OK, Here's another small mountain for me...What the heck is holding the hood latch bracket down...I've taken the radiator cover off for chroming...I need to remove the hood latch bracket off, to get it painted orange...from what I see, there is a nut welded to a plate below the hood latch bracket...beside the nut, are what looks to be , 2 spot welds...it doesn't look like this could be holding what I need to take off, but, with a little encouragement of a hammer...I still can't remove it...any clues from the mechanical wisards here...I'm listening...

its part of the radiator support.to remove it for painting is a ton of work.you will have to remove everything from the frt end except suspension.my crashbook does not show a real good picture of what that part attaches to.remove grille and both h/lites.if you never removed the h/lite there is one nut underneath lite near frt.you cant see it but will have to remove it to remove h/lite.once lites are out you should be able to see whats holding it together.

Larry, That part is riveted in place with four rivets. How far apart do you have the front end? If you have the body panels already off it's not hard to remove the complete radiator support all at once. The part you removed for croming is just one part of the rad support. The entire support consists of the following:

If you have any questions or want to talk drop me a pm. I will be on a cruise next week though.

WOW...MD, looks like you went and done it...looks good...I'll study it a bit more...I would like to have this done...like Catfish said...I could mask it off and paint...I don't have the side panels or nose off, but then that only takes a few minutes...no problem there...just another bump in the road to smooth out...I'll print the pic you have of your bracket assembly and look as to where all the connecting bolts are and maybe if they're not to hard to get at, I may just jump in and do it...I'm not in any hurry, as long as it's done by Spring...THANKS GUY'S

Well, once the nose, quarters and headlights are out it's only three large bolts that hold the whole thing in. The large one in the front and one on each side. I did all this in 2005,6 winter. I have lots of pictures if you want.
