I have been reading about different types of wrappings for the headers off the engine to reduce engine compartment temperatures. Some of the products claim to reduce engine underhood temps by 70% which would definately help cold air intake and power. Has anyone tried using some of these wraps with success? what did you use, and if not, does anyone have any input? Seems like an inexpensive way to improve power and reduce temps. many of these products are available at summit racing.

i have some ,was going to wrap the cats, had second thoughts .if i do i will leave open spaces maybe 1/2 inch,
between the wrap.the reasons, most of the engine compartment heat comes from the cats, and at about 800.00 each i dont want to overheat them, which could happen.if you wrap it completely the heat has no where to go.might help, might not.

Dave Vue Casovic has wrapped his cats in a marine header cloth wrap and the excess heat appears to dissipate through the tail pipes. His underhood temps are definitely lower than mine. Dave, you out there?

Be sure to check the header cloth for max temperature it will withstand. The cloth I used five years ago caught on fire after only 15 miles - that was scary!!
