Everyone,

Last week when I was driving my Prowler I put down my drivers's side window. When I tried to put it up it came up canted or at an angle. I tried adjusting it and finally got it so that it comes up straight. However, it does not appear to go up as far as the passenger window. It is maybe (.10-.15) lower.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Does anyone know if there is a technical service bulletin on this?

Thanks for the help.

sounds like your window regulator is broke.
if not there is an adjustment on the window regulator,
to raise or lower the window.

Your window reg has failed.
If you are out of warranty you can buy the reg and put it in yourself if you are handy.
Regulator is about $300 and install will run about 150 to 200 at dealership.
It is a very poor design.
Do a search and you will come up with loads of info and pics on the install.
Type in "window regulator".

ECURTIS my window did the same thing as yours and i had
to replace the window regulator! if your out of warranty
call Jeff hunter at 1-800-456-5337 for best price!

I agree with you guys the window regulator is broke!
but he also asked if it can be adjusted up and down
and it can. the two rails the window rides up and down on,
has an adjustment on the rear rail to adjust window up and down.

Thank you Everyone for your responses. I appreciate the intel about the window regulator. Presently, I have an extended warranty on the Prowler. When I brought the Prowler, the guy who I purchased it from gave it to me. I just converted it over but have not received the certificate acknowledging that I have the warranty. I asked the service people at Ontario Chrysler when could I get service under the warranty. The said that I could not get service until I received the certificate. So I have not mentioned the window to them yet. My intention is to get it fixed under the extended warranty. Wish me luck. If I can not get it fixed under the extended warranty then I will either call Jeff Hunter or do it myself(I am pretty handy). RRaite I will pm you if I have any trouble. Also RRaite I was able to get the window closed straight by manually pulling on it while pushing the button to make it go up. I have done this several times now. You have to be out of the car and the car has to be stationary. Then as the window comes up canted, the front of the window comes up first, then as the back appears. Gently pull on the back portion until the window stops. The window will not be all of the way up. Depress the button down and gently pull the back of the window to align it. Do not let the window go all the way down. Then push the button so that the window goes up. Again pull the window gently and you should be able to adjust it so that it is straight. This is what I did. Nevertheless, I am very careful not to do this too much. The window motor might fail and I do not want that before I can get it repaired under warranty (hopefully).

ECurtis - it does take a unnecessarily long time to get the extended warranty papers and plastic card back from DC Service Contracts Department,,,but if you can produce a copy of a canceled check or a charge to your credit card account,,,,,the dealership service department should repair your window ASAP,,under your extended warranty [minus your deductible, if any].

Everyone,

I received my extended warranty card this past Friday and took the Prowler to the dealer this past Saturday. They said that the window regulator was covered and that all I would have to pay was the deductable which is $100.00. That was the great news. They also called me today and said that the window would have to be replaced as well. This is also covered and I do not have to pay anymore than the $100.00 that we previously spoke about. The car should be ready Tuesday.

Does anyone know why they have to replace the window? As I previously stated the window goes up at an angle. I have to pull on the back of it to make sure that the back goes all the way up. However the window seemed fine. Does the fact that the window comes up at an angle mean that a part of the window is broken?

Also, something interesting my extended warranty gives me a rental car. They are supposed to put me in a comparable Chrysler vehicle. However, what could be comparable to the Prowler? Answer, nothing. Anyway the rental car company only have Dodge Durango's (which no one was renting, probably because of the gas milage) and they had a four cylindar Sebring. I really wasn't enthusiastic about either of them. Although, I have driven both of those vehicles and they are fine vehicles but, I can drive those anytime. Anyway the agent could see my disappointment and he said come with me. We went in the back where he had an FX35 fully loaded! He said that he wasn't supposed to do this but he would rent me the FX35 for $15.00 per day in addition to what the extended warranty was already paying.
Of course, I said, that I am supposed to get a comparable vehicle and that the FX might qualify more than the Durango or Sebring. I also said that I should get the FX35 for no additional charge. The guy spoke to his manager and we negotiated a deal for $5.00 dollars more a day! So I only have to pay $5.00/day out of pocket for a fully loaded FX35.
Now, that vehicle is certainly impressive! It handles great and is loaded with luxury appointments that I would never have thought of. The vehicle is very, very well thought out.

Nevertheless,I will sum it up this way. During my drive over to the dealership on Saturday. I put the Prowler through it's paces (of course staying within the spead limit). Then after I finish putting the car through it paces and I am driving along normally, a guy in a motor cycle come along side and then gets and gives me a hugh smile and big thumbs up before the then exits the freeway! AAfter that it happened again. This time it was a couple on their motorcycle. I got two more hughs smiles and thumbs up! :thumbsup

Now I ask you, what else really, really gets that kind of response but a Prowler! The FX is a great vehicle, but it's no Prowler! The Prowler is just so much better and so unique! I didn't get any thumbs up or head turns as I drove home in the FX35.

Afterall it wasn't a Prowler!

ECurtis - glad it all went well for you. Not sure about why they had to replace the entire window???

You might ask the service writer to ask the parts department to SAVE that window regulator for you if/when DC tells them they don't need it returned. Those are rebuildable[to some degree],,,,if you don't want it,,,somebody here will take it off your hands.

If you get the old one back, and don't want it,,,,,I'll take it off your hands and will pay the freight.

ENJOY THE RIDE

They prob. broke the glass when they were working on the reg. Also the FX owner will probably wonder how all those miles got on his vehicle while it was at the dealership for service.!!!
