I'm finally in process of copying the factory the mudflap brackets.

Here's my problem,
I'm at work and don't have access to my car right now.
I need to know the length of bolts used in the mudflap brackets.

I've been told the thread is a 6 MM but I need to know the length of bolt.

Can anybody help?

Here's what I'm thinking.
I know many people have used SAE nuts instead of the 6 MM metric nuts when they could not find the metric ones.
For my project, I propose using 1/4-20 bolts and nuts due to ease of availabilty.
I see no reason this will not work well.
Any objections?

I removed the old mud-flap pressed metal plate.
I then spot welded large plate washers onto the square headed bolts that come with the mudflaps.I then put the mudflap on the fender, marked through the 3 holes and bonded the bolts straight to the fender.
I must admit I bond race cars together, so am in a better position than most regards bonding techniques.
The strength of the bond really is superb as the extra area provided by the plate washer helps spread the load. Also the thicknes of original bolt and plate washer measures up to stock thickness.

Dave, all 3 of my brackets came off the fiberglass fender. Any recommnedations on an epoxy or bonding glue I should use? I was told there any many types out there and you have to use the correct for the materials you are trying to bond together. I believe the type of fiberglass used to make the fender is SMC fiberglass.

Luckily, I have the mudflap and the three brackets are still bolted to the mudflap. When the brackets separated from the fiberglass fender, they did not crack or take any fiberglass with them. There is still some bonding glue on the fender where the brackets were glued on that I will need to remove and clean up before gluing the brackets back on the fender.

Thanks!
