Check your area here:

http://interactives.courier-journal.com/projects/eclipse-2017/

The eclipse will sweep eastward along a 70 mile wide path across Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska and the northeast corner of Kansas. It will then darken skies over Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky and Nashville, Tennessee before passing over Georgia and the Carolinas on its way toward the Atlantic Ocean.

this came from our warranty repair company

As you know, pointing a camera directly at the sun without the proper equipment can damage a camera's CCD beyond possible repair.
Even with the proper filter for solar photography, incorrect usage of the filter or using the wrong exposure could cause damage the CCD.

Everyone must take all proper safety precautions in photographing and viewing the solar eclipse.

Passing over our house at 1:04 pm with a 98.8 total eclipse lasting 2 minutes. 30 miles down the road in Madisonville, KY it will be at 99.8 coverage. We are expecting over 100,000 people to travel in this area. Crazy.

Leaving early to drive to Gallatin, Tn so I can say I was in the path of totality. What's 3 hours for a once in a lifetime event?

Sandy is in Princeton, KY, near Paducah. I stayed home. I am not excited about it, at all. Call me an old grouch. I might take a nap since it will be almost dark. lol

91% eclipse here.....The excitement of the event was only surpassed by the time I saw the "world's largest ball of twine" in Kansas.

95% here, but storm clouds blocked it out.
Even then it was slightly darker than a big thunderstorm.
I thought it would a lot darker than it was.

Very disappointed. It was like 6:30pm at night instead of 1pm mid day. Not nearly dark as expected.

Here in central California the blockage was supposed to be 76% at 10:18 AM. I went outside then to check it. No big deal. It was like an overcast day.

PHX media was claiming a 63% blockage....more like 23% and we had cloudless conditions.

Major disappointment,,,considering the past 72 hours of the news covering this event extensively.

Outside of meeting Monahan for the first time in 2000,, It's the most memorable one minute and thirty seconds I've experienced, lol

Brought a couple welding helmets with us to work,,, had lunch and viewed. Was about 67% here.

Another one in 2024,,, best place to view will be Texas. I think those facts are correct but don't hold me to them,,, lol.
