Hopefully not a "don't waste your time it's so easy" but I took the picture just for the interesting mileage (I'm easily amused) and noticed it shows a problem I'm having with it. So what is wrong in this picture? It's a Dodge Ram p/u, I'm pulled over and stopped btw. Have a safe New Years everyone!

That's it! Was hoping it would be slightly more difficult and not quite so obvious. Requires pulling dash and re-soldering contacts, am in no hurry to do that.

I would just break the glass and duct tape it back in place but that would be for a Prowler. I wouldn't go to all that trouble for a pick up. lol

I'd leave it be and buy an aftermarket tach to install...

A lot less work............

AC, I'm surprise you forgot about the magnet trick. Drew, for what its worth, leave the key off and try putting a magnet by the 1000 and see if you can move the needle around to the other side. No fee if it works.

Steve,,since its a Ram truck and not a Prowler, I didn't want to offer that suggestion,,,,,but that may work?

The tach on my silver Prowler stuck like that, but I was able to bring the tilt-wheel fully down, release, and let it slam up with force.....and that jarring motion on the top of the steering column brought the tach needle back into place and never happened again.

When it comes to magnet uses, I will defer to Beach/Roger,,,, for him to respond with his expertise

Actually it will spin half way back upon acceleration, as soon as I let off the throttle it will completely fall either way, sometimes landing in it's normal position so it does a lot of wild spinning during a normal drive. The repair requires a pinpoint soldering iron which I have buried in the garage somewhere and that's my excuse for not tackling it yet, I just really haven't looked!

Unless you use Autostick, or for some reason use the lower gears quite a lot, the tach on most cars is about as useless as tits on a boar hog IMO

While you're sitting there enjoying your bacon sandwich, try looking up the word "tit" in the Webster dictionary....You'll find that it has two definitions.....One is "TEAT" and the other is that it CAN be used as a "vulgar" term...(which I was NOT doing).....There's nothing "VULGAR" about a boar's "tit"....It's part of their anatomy.

Here ya go:
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/tit

......And when you open the link above, click on the word "TEAT"

...... You will THEN see this page which FURTHER deines "TEAT"...

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/teat

Here's what you'll see:

Definition of "TEAT"

1: the protuberance through which milk is drawn from an udder or breast : nipple

I hope that soothes your sensitivity and enlightens you to the word "tits"

"Tits" on a male pig are "USELESS" just as I stated. It's not a "metaphor"

UB is such a wonderful, wholesome, comedic genius and indespensible to the site, right? He's never over the top and is an English Professor and tops on the lecture circuit as well. He adds so much to the site, this must be the reason he doesn't contribute 1 lousy dime...

Had a 87 Cherokee . The needle was just a press on fit. But after I pulled it off I didn’t get it accurately pressed back on so tach was a bit off..... but it WAS just a press on fit
