ed was a better sidekick,than johnny was a host.saw johnny live back in then 70s,he was a 100 percent total disappointment.amc sponsored his show in chicago,he had no new material,it consisted of all old stuff ,he had already done on his tv show,so if you watched it,you had already heard it all.never watched his show again after that.

Amazingly, he died broke and just recently his house was in foreclosure...

He quit drinking years ago. He battled a long and costly bout of cancer, and broke his neck (which isn't all that cheap to treat either). When you can't work and have the kind of bills someone of his stature had, the money burns pretty fast. Donald Trump kept his house out of foreclosure.
The man literally started at the bottom and worked his way up. He may not have been a John Wayne or Tom Cruise when it comes to acting, but he was a great person and a good straitline man that gave alot to others. R.I.P. Ed.
