I thought you might have some fun with this.

I'm not posting this for political discussion, but rather to demonstrate this camera.

This is amazing technology.

This is a photo from the 2009 Inauguration, in which you can see IN FOCUS, the face of each individual in the crowd!!!

You can scan, double click and zoom to any section of the crowd. . . wait a few seconds. . . and the focus adjusts.

The picture was taken with a robotic camera at 1,474 megapixel. (295 times the standard 5 megapixel camera)

The Lockheed U-2 spy plane was capable of recording a golf ball on a putting green from 16,775m (55,000 ft). I had heard that the capability was at the point of capturing it in flight from space based cameras in the mid 80's so this is the "released" version for sure....

We've had cameras in space for years that can tell how many eyelets you have in your shoes and can tell whether or not your laces have those little plastic tips on them and what color they are.

Here's the equipment used for the photograph along with a short description.

I'm thinking TUIB could use one of these to photograph Cookie.

Overview of the GigaPam photography system
The Gigapan imager (pictured) can capture incredibly high-resolution panoramic images with a standard consumer digital camera. It accomplishes this by precisely manipulating the camera's pan and tilt gaze with precision motors while taking many, possibly hundreds of pictures. The pictures are then digitally "stitched" together with special software to create a seamless panoramic image. The results can be amazing--images with incredible detail, clarity and billions of pixels.

Many Gigapan images contain several thousand times more pixels than your computer monitor can display at once. For this reason, you don't simply look at a Gigapan, you explore it. The image below is an example of a Gigapan image. Explore it by using your mouse or the pan and zoom controls on the lefthand side of the image. Or go to our partner site Gigapan.org and explore a growing collection of Gigapan images. Or get the latest version of Google Earth where several points of interest feature Gigapans that you can click on and explore.
