Fox News anchors on Kavanaugh after hearing Ford: 'This is a disaster for the Republicans'

Jennifer Kline, AOL.com

Several Fox News anchors voiced measured support for Dr. Christine Blasey Ford in the midst of her Senate testimony on Thursday.

As the hearing broke midmorning for a recess, roundtable panelists discussed Dr. Ford, and the tone a marked change for the network from even just 24 hours prior.

"You read the opening statement from Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, and it is one thing," Bret Baier said. "But then you hear it, and in the way that she expresses it ... it is a totally different thing after you hear it."

Chris Wallace was even more forceful in his reaction, calling the testimony "extremely emotional, extremely raw and extremely credible": "This is a disaster for the Republicans," Wallace said firmly.

President Trump, a noted consistent viewer of Fox News, reportedly agrees with the panelists' perceptions of the testimony, according to Vanity Fair correspondent Gabriel Sherman.

"Trump telling people he’s furious that WH aides didn’t have advance knowledge of how credible Ford would seem," Sherman tweeted during the hearing's lunch recess, citing two sources.

The conversation also discussed the Republicans' decision to hire veteran sex-crimes prosecutor Rachel Mitchell to conduct questioning on their behalf.

"You have to believe that the Republican senators right now are asking themselves whether this was a good idea, whether or not they may have robbed themselves of the opportunity to ask pointed questions in a way that might be more compelling," said anchor Martha MacCallum.

I couldn't DISagree more strongly. She sounded good, no doubt but overall this is a HUUUUGE win for the Republicans. The Dems look like TOTAL idiots at this point. The Republicans took the high road and now they are winning, big time.
CBS seems to be agreeing with what I think about it.

Hey "Tommie the A$$hole" I'm sure you're delighted to see that Kavanaugh, his wife and kids are destroyed. Fortunately the hearing wasn't over after the 1st witness. You really should've shut your filthy mouth at this point but an a$$hole like you can't help himself. You're a disgrace....

Once again you jump in posting opinions before this has come to conclusion. I have also been watching Fox off an on and the panel is in agreement that we are back to where we were at the beginning of this hearing and all the Democrats have left is FBI FBI FBI and they are over using it. Lindsay Graham laid it all out on the line. The only one that thinks anything different on the Fox panel is that Liberal twit Marie Harf or whatever her name is. And she is about as unbiased as Rachel Maddow. The person that is really looking bad is Diane Feinstein.

Prosecutor who questioned Christine Ford says she wouldn't prosecute Brett Kavanaugh

Ledyard King, USA TODAYPublished 10:42 a.m. ET Sept. 28, 2018 | Updated 12:10 p.m. ET Sept. 28, 2018

Rachel Mitchell, the Arizona prosecutor who questioned Christine Blasey Ford at Thursday's Senate Judiciary Committee, privately told GOP senators she would not prosecute Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh based on the evidence she heard, according to the Washington Post.

That detail was spotlighted Friday by Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, whose office sent out a news release Friday referring to Mitchell's conclusion.

Mitchell was hand-picked to lead the questioning of Ford, who has accused Kavanaugh of sexual assault when both were high school students in the posh suburbs of suburban Maryland.

Mitchell avoided a high-decibel grilling Thursday and instead displayed a considerate, business-like manner befitting an experienced sex crimes prosecutor.

Cornyn, who as Senate majority whip is deputy to GOP Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., told Fox News' Fox & Friends Friday morning that he thought Mitchell performed admirably.

“I spent 13 years as a judge back in Texas, and I recognize the need to have somebody who does this for a living day after day carefully question somebody who has claimed to be a victim of sexual assault," he said. "I thought she did a good job getting the basic facts out."

In fact she said she would not even charge him.

Prosecutor tells wavering senators she wouldn't charge him and the charges would not hold up in a court of law.

Too bad you didn't wait for the event to conclude before responding, Tomcal .... this "he said - she said" circus at worst was a draw and at best underscored the deception and corruption of the democrats to focus on power and nothing more.

They could care less about Ford and will drop her like hot rock in 10 days time - and her life and that of her family trashed ... she will look even more like a deer in the headlights - and when you think about it, as a Doctorate Professor in Palo Alto, CA (that in itself says enough), she sure should look, act, and sound far more compelling than she did - oh, she dropped big words and scientific phrases, but almost in a scripted rehearsed manner and NOT from her own education.

Poor Tomcal .... you just don't get it.

Fact one ... this is a liberal assault on DUE PROCESS and the presumption of innocence UNTIL proven guilty. If that is achieved by the democrats - God help us all, including YOU sir, that your life isn't altered by a FALSE accusation.

Fact two ... her OWN female friend DENIES knowing Kavanaugh and ANY such party.

Fact three ... did you see the envelope PayOut to the lawyer by democrat from TX upon conclusion of her testimony - AFTER they CLAIMED they were working Pro Bono?!? Lying fake Democrats

Fact Four .... the over $700k in GoFundMe account she sheepishly said she has no idea how to retrieve is ALL SOROS FUNDS being laundered through as bribe money.

WAKE UP TomCal .... don;t be so blind unless you welcome this level of corruption in our politics .... and if you do, why not move to Mexico where it is even worse!
