Has anyone fitted a dead pedal to the Prowler? I always feel like my left foot is just hanging there. Can get uncomfortable after a while. Any ideas? |

I always figured they didnt put in a dead pedal because the shape of the footwell doesn't leave much room for one. I agree my left foot gets tired on long trips. Sometimes I bend my left leg so that it is below and perpendicular to my right leg. |

I stick mine way under the brake arm to the left a tad so you can still push on the brake without your left foot getting squished. Thought of putting something in that spot because the foot still dangles. This message has been edited by Landscape Doctor on 06-25-2020 at 06:41 AM |

Cut a wedge out of a 2x4 block to see if it helps. If it works, paint it flat black and put some Velcro on both sides to hold it in place and keep your foot from sliding. |

Just had a good look in the driver's footwell. There are two threaded posts just where a dead pedal would sit. The threaded posts are the securing point for what looks like a control unit (in a vented protective box), but a good 1/2 inch of the posts are unused. There is the potential for a bracket secured to the posts that then goes to a pad mount. With a little tack welding, I'm going to try an mock something up. |

Bingo! Here's a dead pedal I scrapped together with some aluminum bar, a rubber pad from an F150, and nylon plate, two bolts, and aluminum rivets. To mount I used the posts and 10mm nuts holding the computer unit in place (just to the left of the drivers foot). By sheer luck the bracket just had to go through a few bends to get the shape right. I added a "foot" so that the pedal is resting on the floorpan (versus hanging on the bolts). I set the pedal height to be the same as the depressed brake pedal. It took me about an hour to fabricobble the dead pedal. I can't test drive it this evening - putting in the replacement window regulator on the passenger side (from Tom Mills at Jefferson Auto). To test I sat in the car for 10 mins to see if the foot position felt right. Can't wait to drive it.

Prototype 2 for the Prowler Dead Pedal... I took a number of test drives to see how the first dead pedal felt. It was better than no dead pedal, but some things that were not perfect. #1 - the pedal sits forward of the ball of the left foot, essentially under the toes (if I were driving barefoot) #2 - The pedal sits so far forward that the front of my left shoe is right at the bracket that runs from the brake pedal. So I rebuilt the dead pedal bracket to try a new position about 1-2 inches further towards the back of the car. Since I still wanted to use the mounting points from the body control module, this meant some interesting bends necessary in the 1/8in aluminum bar. I should have known that 90 degree bends were not going to work in a Prowler Another set of test drives will be necessary. Initial "sit in" tests feel good for foot pedal position. If anything I think a wider/larger pedal might be appropriate (especially now that it's further from the brake pedal). Jeff

I had never noticed the lack of the dead pedal. I paid attention yesterday and decided that if you are 6' 2" and kind of long legged, you don't need or even want less leg room up there. I can see where it would come in handy or most folks. |

Dead pedal is a development fight during most new programs. If you drive a vehicle with one, you miss those without it. My Pacifica has one and you get used to it for comfort. My Ram doesn't and I really miss it. Nice addition and construction! |
