Apparently I have dead mouse or (?) located in the air conditioning fan motor (based on the offensive odor). Is the removal of this fan something i can do or should a “qualified” Prowler mechanic tackle this job.

The fan motor can be removed without taking the heater box out ( which is actually a very very big job). I think you only have to take out the glove box to get at the motor.
If you are handy at taking things apart, you can do it.
