I have been trying to find a set of wheels and have started to pull out the little hair I have left. I have looked at few threads on here about offset and backspacing but I have become even more confused about what I need to do. I know the stock size and offset. I would like to keep the front the same but it's been harder to find 7.5. Wondering if I can go with 8 without needing to do any modification. For the rear, I would like the wheels to have a slightly wider stance. Maybe half to 1 inch without going past the fender. So I am not sure what width and/or offset I should be looking for. Obviously any wheel will need to clear the calipers as well. Any suggestions/help is greatly appreciated. |

I am not sure if this is an option, or a consideration. Instead of getting bigger wheels on my Viper, we went one size larger (Wider) on my Viper. They do not rub and really really widened he stance and look great. Is that possible on the Prowler ? John |

Remember on the rear you have to clear the frame also. |

I did a lot of research on tires. I'm with you about wider in the back. After fixing my transmission problems and installing the HD front ball joints, I'm going to have a set of wheels made. Was going 17by8 on the front, 20 by 14 on the rear using Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R tires ( 29 by 15.00R20LT) on the rear. Offset hasn't been calculated yet. I looked at many many rear tires and this size isn't a problem with diameter. It is quite irritating that the frame was built in such a way that limits diameter of the rear tires. There is a great tire size comparison calculator on tacomaworld.com This was invaluable. I looked at 355/55R19 tires. Big and wide but only 27" diameter. 355/25R24 tires would be great but are 31" diameter- too big.... 355 tires are usually soft racing compounds that wear out quick. The M/T tires have a flame tread pattern and 8/32 of tread depth and street rubber composition. Should last awhile. |

29x18-20 on a 20x15 wheel. Just an FYI competition tires ride super harsh. A 20x10 “0” offset wheel with 5.5” backspace would suit you much better. I’m not sure how a 15” wide tire would look with a factory body. If you’d like to PM me your number I’ll break it all down for you. You do have many options actually, This message has been edited by cdeluca99 on 03-23-2024 at 03:26 AM |

This is a “0” offset 5.5” backspace wheel with the factory fenders. I have 295/40-20 tires on them and they fill the wheel well perfectly. This message has been edited by cdeluca99 on 03-23-2024 at 04:19 AM |

This is a 315/35-20 tire. The Mickey’s for daily use suck. Look great but are super harsh especially because our cars are so light IMHO throw 315 Nitto on her with a “0” offset wheel and I think you’ll be a lot happier. This message has been edited by cdeluca99 on 03-23-2024 at 04:20 AM |

quote: Great! Thanks for confirming. What offset/backspace and size do you recommend for front. Can I go 17x8 or even 18x7.5 or 18x8 without doing any modifications? |

I'm sorry I can only give you the tools to measure your car. I do not want to be responsible for non fitment issues. Once you get it, you get it and its easy. What works for me might not work for you. quote: |
