Bought my 99 late last summer with 3850 KM on it. I'm pretty sure it even had the original oil filter on it. My question is, what parts should I be concentrating on since there are many posts about certain defects/wear issues that I may run into down the line. I'd rather be proactive and replace or repair anything that is known to fail since my window of running the Kat is limited in my area. Just thought a list from the more experienced owners would help out us new guys. (Not thinking of appearance or performance, just usability.) I also immediately swapped out the speakers and got my centre caps fixed before they broke. Where in Canada are you? |

Edmonton. I'm in the middle of speaker replacement, bought a trailer out of Tulsa, vertical door hinges sitting in my office waiting for a complete repaint. The car runs great, the tires look brand new, everything is fine but I want to solve potential problems before they happen.

Look at the code in the oval on the tires. They might look great but they may also be ready for replacement. |

The date the tires were made is located in the small oval on the tire. The oval usually is to the right of the DOT info. In this photo, 1113 means that this tire on my Prowler was made in the 11th month of 2013. It's a good idea to check this even when buying new tires. Unless you don't mind buying tires that have set in a wharehouse dryrotting for a few years, or may be tires taken off a dealers demo car (takoffs). BillyC |

You posted you have a '99, so if your tires are original, the code will look like the above. This message has been edited by ed monahan on 03-01-2015 at 03:02 PM |
