Hey Gort did you notice the exhaust tips, pretty neat. Looks like a machine gun barrel. Beautiful photo.

Santa would not be caught dead in a Mulholland blue Prowler, i'm surprised anyone would because they are so slow.

I have a few.

How many kats have been driven in the snow?

They mentioned there was like a 20% chance of flurries one night on my way home from work. Yep...I got caught in them.
So for approx. the last 5 miles of my commute home...I was driving on a light coating of snow.
Made it home safe...thank God!

Hey AC, do you notice how Taco looks a little thinner in that pic, then he looks now. What happened? He must be hanging around Cookie again, or maybe he's just in his lawn chair all day & getting fat in Fla.

You are right Mac,,,Bell put on 55 lbs onto his already, fat azz since that picture was taken.....had his 'finger in the Cookie jar' too much

Right now he is laying out on the Florida beach with his face into a 1/2 gallon of ice cream, and a large bag of potato chips! That's what retirement has done to him....Cookie has 911 on speed-dial when his arteries explode again...

I have a few pics from I think back in 06 when the Northeast Prowlers traversed the Kancamagus Scenic Highway in NH.
There was snow on BOTH sides of the highway.

Hopefully I can find the pics.

Hipster my friend,,,,that picture goes back over a decade or so,,what do you want, video? lol,, Yes, T Bell drove his cat in snow,,,unlike you cat owners in N.H. which switch to snow tires with a dusting of 2" of white stuff!!

That Park elevation sign says > 2855' WTH,,,we consider that a small hill in northern AZ......try 10,000+ feet of elevation and snow pack.

Snow on both sides of road you say? So it was already plowed before you ventured to travel? Wimps,,I tell ya, wimps!

Brian, I heard a rumor you are moving to the earthquake state? When is that going to happen?

Larry was the only owner to drive his Prowler to the CAAP farewell tour in Jan of 2002, yes it snowed while we were there

Surprised he hasn't posted a few pictures of it in the snow, he has more snow pictures than that one.

I agree AC...2855' isn't very high but that highway is frequently traveled throughout the year.
The 10,000+ that you mention...can that road be easily accessed?

California...oh yeah!
I hope and pray we're relocated no later than Fall of this up and coming year.

Isn't that Brian Richardson's ride before he moved to FL??? I hope I'm getting his name right.

Not many have driven the Prowler in the snow...for any length of time. It happened to me by accident. I must say...it's not for the faint of heart. The wide tires and rear wheel drive do nothing for the traction.

question by 2Hipster: "The 10,000+ that you mention...can that road be easily accessed?

Yup,,,check out the AZ Prowler's Devil's Highway Route 666, in the old posts in the EVENTS DISCUSSION forum.
.

Video of the 666 road ^^^
.
.

U.S. 191 (formerly U.S. 666 ) ,,,,we start near Springville, Az at appox. 10,000 feet and travel down through 1,200 quick, death designed, turns/curves/& 400 switchbacks with no guard rails to stop the car from a 500/600 foot drop-offs. Most of the switchbacks are posted at 15mph,,,and when doing 50-68 through these high risk, rights and lefts, there is no time for scenic observation for the driver.....heart pounding stress and tunnel vision is required

We've had a few spin-outs,,,one cat nearly going off the cliff,,,and several cars damaged from big rocks on the highway....at fast speeds and constantly turning the wheel, its impossible to dodge all of the elements encountered on the this road. Even a few animals have been run over > R.I.P.
There is even one flat plateau which is about five miles in length, where one can run wide-open-throttle up strong into triple digit MPH numbers. Remember, we are going down from 10,000 feet to the desert floor at a couple hundred feet of elevation (Morenci, AZ ending). Rights//Lefts//Braking//Throttle//Shifts,,,you get it all...

Those big write-ups about the Tail of the Dragon and its 11 mile course.....many of those drivers probably couldn't conquer the fear, excitement, speeds, and required skills of the Devil's Highway...its that demanding if testing your skill limits!!!

So Brian, I hope that answers your question? Maybe on your move 'west',,,you can take the U-Haul box truck down the Devil's Highway?
.
.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXMn_G8QLbI

^^>> some of these guys on bikes are doing the trip like the wussy BMW, Mazda, and Corvette car club groups....going uphill instead of the faster pace and braking of going 'down the road'

...the Orange Prowler was driven 27k miles in 18 months, all of one winter and part on another...I decided I was going to use it as a regular car just to see how it did
...it sat outside most of the winter, covered with snow, ice, salt, sand etc...it was filthy, brown icicles hung from all corners, slush frozen to the underside...I remember driving it one really snowy slushy day in Indy and the looks of horror I got at each stop light, people couldn't believe a Prowler was out in the nasty conditions...the rule was, if I could get it out of the driveway, it was on the road for the day...most of the winter it was almost solid white from road salt...I kept the interior spotless, but the exterior didn't look so great, LOL
...I did drive it to some meeting in Detroit, bad snow, snow drifts, slush etc etc...I remember doing donuts in the parking lot of a restaurant in the fresh snow...it could handle a 6" snow easily, but icy streets were somewhat thrilling...the rear tires were definitely not designed for snow, but I got the car everywhere I needed to go all winter long except one time and that was my fault for parking wrong in deep snow and the city snow plow buried it
...would I do it again, probably not, but it was fun

...real long story made short...bought a new silver 2000 Prowler in Virginia, headed back towards Indiana...left the hotel, it was 53 degrees and sunny, not far down the highway I encountered one of the worst blizzards I have ever driven in
...snow got deep fast, soon there was no traffic on the interstate except me and the car following me home...it got deep, got dark, sleet, the silver Kat looked like a frozen Coke at the first gas stop...covered with a couple inches of brown ice, sand and pea gravel from the road crew we followed for a hundred miles or so
...finally get into Ohio, very little snow, but black ice for miles and miles, traveling at 5-10 mph for hours...I was off the side of the interstate hoping for better traction
...finally, after traveling over 6 states with no license plates, the ice tore the temp plates off early in the day, I rolled into New Castle about 3am, hit the car wash a few blocks from home, sprayed off the ice, salt, rocks, slush and everything else that had frozen to the car over the 7-800 miles of snow, ice slush, sleet, freezing rain, amazingly, the Kat was perfect...wish I had owned a Go-Pro during that trip, it would have made one helluva YouTube video, although it would probably have had to be censored
