If the recall has already been done and it has failed again this would be at least the 3rd one to fail after the recall and needs to be reported to NHTSA.

The Ball Joint that failed on Ricks car is one of the NEW DESIGN Ball Joints that was replaced under the recall.
Better check your cars to make sure they look safe !

Please report back whether they handled it under warranty or what.

I just took a look at mine. I'm not sure what to look for. All 4 fronts look the same on the bottom half (above the arm) except for a possible different color to the boot. Recalls were done on both cars. 1 I know for a fact was done, the other dealer says was done. The pictures are of the one the dealer says was done. 3 of the 4 look like this on the top side.

The other one looks like this on the top side.

It looks to me like the boot isn't seated in the hole properly. Is this a sloppy install? Is this a sign of failure? Is this a non issue or cause for concern?

About the BAll JOINT RECALL.
I think it is not safe to drive at the highway if the changed part ( the new design ) fail ...don't you think so?
I think if the part fail with speed more then 25 miles/h
will do lots of damage. What do you think ?
Is there a visible sign we should look for before we take the Kat out for drive ?

What is looking at the ball joint going to tell us?
Looking for cracks, improper seating, looseness? etc!

Mickey, Rick picked up his car this afternoon, They did not charge a cent to repair, The ball of the Ball Joint pulled out of the barrel, The shaft did not break.
You might want to check for any hair line cracks around the barrel area where the ball fits into. You can also use a floor jack to relieve pressure under the A Arm and you can then feel for any play in the socket area of the joint. If you have any play, take it to Chrysler for a free replacement.

I have talked to Rick a couple of times about his problem. The ball joint had about 36,000 miles on it when it failed. I also have been finding that the a-arms I am now chroming with the new ball joints are very questionable. I have had to replace the last 3 sets I have chromed. This is something Chrysler needs to look at. I hope we got some pictures of the bad ball joint and I feel the regional service manager should be contacted.

im talking they wont do crap about fixing the obvious replacement joints that are also defective.to continually replace them is not the answer.theres obviously another problem since the replacement joint failed.

Ed, will post some pics of the failure.
Thanks again Ed.
Catfish, If all the owners report their failures to the NTSB, they will go after Chrysler like they did the first time.
