Seems to be a bargain at $32,000 and no reserve. Wonder why this has not sold. Wish I could afford it right now.

This is it and it belongs to one of our POA members. There is a video of it in this first link. This will make somebody a really fast Prowler.

This reminds me of project where I put a 383 stroker in a jeep wrangler with the stock peugot 5 speed and xfer case. Had a large cool factor but was a parts destroyer when you jumped on it. If someone got a deal on this and spent a little extra on trans/rear end this would be pretty hip. Otherwise, nice but not usable IMO...

Quoted from one of those links

The wiring was a nightmare, what with the previous re-wiring job done only with white and blue wires. That’s when Mike called Mark at Street & Performance to order one of his new Hemi harnesses. Tony, from Squire Inc. was called in to help make additional new wiring harnesses. When the Prowler still didn’t run right, because of communication problems between the car’s three harnesses, Mike called Rick, at Diagnostics on Wheels to help with some of the more advanced computer quirks we were having with the communication problems between the Hemi computer the Prowler engine, transmission and body computer. Once those problems were solved, the hood was then cut to clear the throttle body and air cleaner. An air pan was built, and an old style Mopar hood scoop was fabricated to get fresh cool air straight to the engine instead of getting hot air off the radiator and headers. At this writing, the Prowler is still under construction, but you can see updates on Mikes website:
www.TalbottEnterprise.com.

This car came from a friend at RSI that got the car from a shop up North somewhere. After looking at the car for a while they determined that they did not want to work on this type of project, so we went and picked it up. Then After looking at the car for awhile it was determined that the motor was in the car, out of line both up and down, in addition to also out of line side to side with the transmission which is in the rear like a C5 Corvette, this caused the drive shaft to explode destroying the floor board, the shifter inside of the car, destroyed the exhaust and cracked the front cover of the transmission. New side motor mounts along with a new 1/4" steel plate rear motor mount/starter mount, were made to correct the out of alingment problems. New headers were made out of larger diameter stainless steel tubing with laser cut ss flanges. The drive shaft was redesigned along with replacing the front tranny cover. When all of the fab work was done the car would not run and the wiring was a mess. The Hemi computer was wired in with nothing but white and blue wires, making diagnosing the problems impossible. A call was made to Mark at Street & Performance to get one of his Hemi wiring harneses so we could start over. We received a call from Tony at Squire Inc. who builds the harneses for Mark, saying that it was not going to be that easy. After talking for a couple of days, it was determined that Tony needed the car to build the harnes, so we took it to him. When we got the car back it ran ok, but the computers were not communicating correctly. The Hemi computer wanted different signals then the Prowler computer required, causing driveabiliy problems. A call was made to Rick at Diagnostics on Wheels, someone who was known to work on crazy problems like we had. With a couple of visits from him we had the car running good, too good when Bernard, the owner, came to drive it, the clutches in the transmission started to slip, so we had the transmission freshened up and the car was delivered to Bernard. A couple of months later Bernard called and said that the rear cover on the transmission was cracked and leaking fluid. Bernard brought the car back and it was determined that the chain stretched due to the extra tourqe and hit the case. A call was made to Dean at Prowler Pro for one of his heavy duty regear sets that should hold the extra power.

After reading the other web posts/sites about this car, selling it probably had more to do with its parts munching abilities.

This morning I was actually trying to justify buying this car... LOL
I'm sure it could be a fun car to own, but not if it means sitting on the side of the road a lot of times.

kala,i agree.its not like the old days when you could change engines and not have any real problems.now w/computers you need to know somebody to connect it all and make it work.not a easy task.thanks nothern cat for the info very interesting.i was wondering how hard it was going to be on rear end stuff and making the computers work together.

I have a guy who can do incredible things with Vipers in LA. He has also worked on Prowlers in the past...

Dan @ DC Performance is the only one I trust to work on my Viper. They do computer reflash's on Vipers and the results are amazing.

My question for you Catfish is?

Do you see the Achilles heel, for the Hemi Prowler is the half shafts or is it rear end? It sounds like adding the prowler pro gears, the tranny flywheel etc, have been fortified enough to handle the torque.

At 350 or so HP and TQ, I would think there cant be that much TQ to upset the Prowler. Its a different engine, but only 100 HP more than stock...

Am I just a Hemi Homer?

I would LOVE to have this car. In my opinion if it was to live on the streets with the extra power it needs a better transaxle

I have given a lot of thought into putting a V8 in my car. In discussing this with RPL he thought a C5 vette transaxle would be the way to go.

The hard part is done, the V8 is in it, hopefully the bugs are worked out of the wiring. The C 5 would eliminate the need for the trans computer, A MAJOR PROBLEM since the Prowler has a 16 bit processor and the Hemi a 32 bit.

If my job was not so iffy I would buy it. Then start collecting the parts needed to install the C5 Trans and try and not BLOW the Prowler trans to bits before getting it changed.

The other major change would be to install a hood scoop that compliments the lines of the car

It is not a simple change to add that much power to a car designed for the V6, but how cool would it be to drive it with the sound of the V 8 as it should have had from the factory.

The only other thing might be the cooling, but that should be able to be handled too.

It would not be for someone that thought they could just get in and DRIVE

kala, the trans and rr.end are the weak link.would love to drive it just once.if the viper is a trans axle i would put that in.keep it all mopar if possible.if not the only answer is corvette.about 6 years ago john lingenfelter built a prowler w/all corvette drive train.there is a post on this site w/photos.im not sure how to find it.for alot less money and retain driveability you could add a 100lb shot of nitrous, which is cheap horsepower and will just about equal the hemi or vette, yet its not a all the time mod only when you want it.

Sounds like the beefed up the transaxle. If Deans mods handles his 5.0 HP and Torgue would they not also handle the Hemi.

Thanks Jan... You're spot on as always.

While there is some mystique to the Hemi Prowler, I need it like I need a hole in my head I'm finally down to a fairly normal # of cars... BUT its intriguing just the same... As far as I know, Vipers dont have transaxels. You can do a search for Quaife, that is the upgrade that power guys do to their Vipers.

Step up to the plate "WildCat" Larry it would look good in the calendar

C5 parts should be easy to come by...
Enough of them are wrecked daily

kala, would be a nice car to have.just to many possible problems.if its one thing i like its dependability.one thing i would really worry about is cooling.i had a custom made aluminum 4 row rad in my cat and it din't help one bit.it finally vibrated itself to death and i went back to stock rad.great picture of the side of your car.right away you know its a viper.

Still no bids... Wow...

Is it "Fear of the Hemi" or is it the "Economy Stupid"

Jan, I love my car, its me to a "T"...
I think my Avitar needs to be a bit smaller though... Its overbearing...

If A/C ever gets off his be-hind and figures out a POA Cali cruise, you'll have to actually take some time off one day so you can drive the snake on PCH
