Well, it's been about 9 months since the last (second) time my Prowler had to be towed, so it was time again, I guess.

While driving all the sudden the engine sounded like it's running on 4 or 5 cylinders only and had no power left to maintain speed. All this happened while cruising 50mph on a highway nicest weather.
I put it in neutral and let it roll out on a small parking lot. No "check gauge" sign, warning chirp or anything until it died.

I can't restart it, although the starter is able to rev the engine with normal effort, so I guess it's not a mechanical problem. My best guess would be a sensor (crankshaft position sensor, knock sensor...) is broken, or maybe the ECU itself!?!?
Oil looks good, all connections under the hood look ok, no oil spilled, water wasn't boiling - nothing I can find wrong!

Happened too late today, I'll have it towed tomorrow.
Jeez, I'm sick of that lousy Chrysler quality!

Anybody an idea on what could have happened?
And YES, there's still fuel in it!!

Thanks guys,
embe

Still sounds like a fuel problem - maybe not "no fuel" but a fule pump, fuel line problem. Good luck getting it figured out.

I second Marty on the fuel pump / fuel line problem.
Thats where I would start anyway.
Good luck and post your findings.

Well, I hope y'all are right, cause that'd be an easy fix. The car will be towed this morning and be inspected Monday morning.
I'll post an update!

Thanks.

What a bummer about the towing thing.....I know, it can be frustrating. Keep the faith brother..for the most part these really are very reliable cars

Well, you guys should open an "Online Pharmacy for Prowlers", your diagnose was right: The fuel pump gave up...
They found the problem right after lunch today and tell me, hopefully I will have the car back before the weekend.

Chromer:
Thanks for the nice words, but I'm already getting used to see my car like this:

I hope all faulty parts brake and are replaced BEFORE I move the car to Germany...
