It's been about a year and the weather has finally cooled down enough to go racing at the drag strip again. I got in 5 runs. My best time last night was:

14.757 sec @ 89.36 MPH

Not to bad for a 97 Prowler...best I've done is a 14.705.

ONDPROL2 was there with his Black Supercharge Prowler and his best run was:

13.14 sec @ 100+ MPH

There was a brand new 2006 Corvette Z06 that tried to run and on the green light he blew the tranny!!! He did not even get past the green light. I bet the GM Corvette Engineers are on an airplane to FL to see what happened.

Brian - VERY nice run for a stock 97!!

ONDPROL2 - wow - right on the verge of being an other 12 second Prowler. That's my goal for my stroker motor in 2006 - get in the 12's.

13.1 with factory tires is great - & 1.9 is very good 60' time - it must have hooked up right from the start.

ONDPROL 2, that is a nice run. 12's would be nice for any street car, especially one that looks as good as a prowler...

Thanks Marty and Dbud, I am very happy... BUT, You know, I WANT MORE, I am shooting for 12.98 2nd week of Jan 06' is the next track date, Wish me luck. If I HAVE to, I'll end up cheating, in my eyes, I'll use my 275-40-17 radials from another car and that will put me right around the Kats with the Prowler Pro Gears. Then for sure I'll be in the 12.7 range. Only reason I do not change gears is because the track is 92 miles from home and we do a lot of highway crusin.

275/40/17 - what is the diameter - something like 25 0r 26 ? Tread should still fairly wide for traction.

I went the other way when I had the performance gears; I used 30.66 ht tires to get the ratio closer to stock.

Good luck on your next run and have fun!

Marty,

The tire is a 25.7 od,with the factory 2.68 in OD changing to a 25.7 OD will become a 3.04, still not near the G-force 3.42 in OD. If they made THAT gear I think that would be PERFECT and I would defitely buy it. Your set up with the 3.42 gears in OD with a 30.66 OD tire equals 3.257 gear, lower , but still not as low as the way low low factory slow gears of 2.68 in OD. I run a 12.48 at 117 mph in my cheveele with those tires, 5 spd 3.27 1st and 3.70 rear, and I could get it to hook pretty good, I don't think the low boost out of the hole will affect my launch especially being Automatic.

Have you tried the 17" wheels you are going to use on the Prowler to be sure they clear the rear brakes and the offset is OK?

Not yet, Was planning on it. They are 17x9.5 with a 5 1/4" backspacing. I could always get a cheap mr gasket spacer from auto part if needed. I could have sworn I checked bolt pattern 8 months ago and that's why i am still sure it'll work but need to 3ple check. I 99% my chevy are 5 on 4.5. What do you think about adding a 50 shot of NOSout of thr hole? I have a kit sitting in my garage.

Others have run a 50 shot with ta Paxton SC and run in the 12's. My biggest concern would be how long you run the N20 being sure you don't run too lean on the top end AND being sure your tires don't go up in smoke off the line. Are the 275/40/17 tires DOT drag radials? If just street tires I'd run low psi.

Good luck

BFG TA's. Not Drag. They hook up decent on my chevelle at
18lbs. I run sunoco 100 octane to be sure plus I just dynoed car and am at 13.1 :1 Fuel/air ratio on 93 oct.
Chevy is stick which makes things a lot more difficult plus it has a 525 hp sm blk, 3400lbs with me in it.

One thing about the nitrous, if it is too much for thre tires on the first run you can always turn it off for additional runs! OR before I got a programmable controller with a delay feature, I just made sure the N20 pressure wasn't quite up to where it normally should be so less juice was flowing. Not real accurate but it helped.
