I gotta know. I drive my Kat at least once a week. (Weather permitting.)
When I bought it last June it had 20k on it. It now has 21.5k.

I see Kats with less than 500 miles on them and don't understand. Unless you pickle your car you should at least enjoy it once and a while.

The 97 Prowler on Ebay has only 332 miles. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Plymouth-Prowler-1997-Plymouth-Prowler-with-Trailer-COLLECTORS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6414QQitemZ4623501677QQrdZ1 If that car sat on a lot for a year or so and was eventually bought in 99, that would conservativly be seven years on the road. Equating out to about 47 miles a year. Purely bought for and investment.

To me that's like keeping a masters painting in a closet.
I admire those of you who use your Kat as driver. The increased visibility only inhances the disirability of all our Kats.

I put almost 9000 miles on since I purchased my Kat in June '04.

I drive it every chance I get!

I bought mine in September of 04 and have driven it for 11 months total (when it was not in winter storage).
I've put 20,000 miles on it...just to work and back and a few day trips..

To be honest, Pumpkin does not have a lot of miles on her (1700 ). Yes, we take her out only and I mean only when the weather is perfect. The main reason on the low mileage is that pumpkin in not an only child (car ).We have other cars that have the same appeal. So pumpkin has to wait her turn.In other words if you only have only one car that people look at and you enjoy that's all you have to drive you will up your mileage.

Depends on where they live and what they do with it. We only drove our prowlers on weekends but, it had to be a nice weekend. Also, I could drive it around all day (small town) and only put 15 to 20 miles on it. I averaged about 300-500 miles a year.

The other thing is that perhaps this guy did buy it thinking it was an investment. You have to remember, some of those first 97's went for mid-$100's.

While on a different scale, Mike and Judy's high voltage blue went for even more then that and I would venture that it only has delivery miles on it and will never see pavement except if they move to a different home.

To each their own. I drive mine a lot. It's been my daily driver for almosrt five years. Yep - it's nicked up, beat up, rock chipped, dirty from the winter season, but it still brings a smile to my face and driving with the top down is cheaper than therapy !!

For those that bought as an investment - that's their decision. People lose and make money all the time in the stock market and in real estate. Who back in the early 70's would have thought Hemi Cuda's or Daytona's would have brought six & seven figure price tags? I just don't wnat to wait that long to enjoy my Prowler or benefit from it.

Drove it the first year ( last year ) including the drive from Tn about 3000 miles. This year however is going to be a boating year...I expect around 1000 miles or less this year.

* my 2000 Yelo has only 200 miles on it, out for the Memorial Day Parade every year and for a local cruise-in in October.....other than that is stays parked all the time...last summer was the first time I ever put gas in the Kat

* my 2002 Kandi has 1300 miles or so...it now gets the same duty as the Yelo Kat....but it did go to the Pigeon Forge POA meet a few years ago....that was the last time it was driven more than 2-3 miles at a time...

* my Tangelo Kat has about 7K miles....5K miles since the color change....it gets dirty, rained on, and was driven in the snow a little this winter....it hasn't been washed since last October....

....but like others here, I do have other cars to alternate with the Kats so they don't see street use all the time...I have put about 50K miles on 9 different Kats thru the last 7 1/2 years...

225 miles on this Kat....it has never even been wet(never washed)...just dusted off every year or two

Well, my Cat is parked in winter storage from October thru April. I live in Michigan where the winters are (for the most part) long and brutal. Now, during the 'warm' weather months I drive her 3-4 times a week, as long as rain is not in the forecast. I know rain won't harm her, but I like to keep her clean and detailed out, and I really don't enjoy that chore if I have to do it often. If I lived in the 'sun belt' I know I would drive her more often!

I had over 50,000 on the first one, about 11,000 on the Candy (I think) and only about 3000 on the one I bought in Sept. I have only driven it a couple of times.

My kat is in winter storage from November 1st until around mid-April. I bought it in July 0f 1998 and it has 20,047 miles on it. I do not use it all the time because I have other cars to drive.

2000. Got it almost a year ago, replaced a 2000 Vette, and is our everyday driver (primary transportation). Can't afford to have a vehicle that just sits. And as others said, we get to "show" it everyday!

Both of our Cats "are in winter storage" for 4 days while I work in Ft. Lauderdale. Now when I get home and the weather is OK my wife and I will probably take them both out by Friday evening. One of them is on the road almost daily, weather permitting. Blew Buyou has some 15,000 miles since Dec. of 04, including some of the Hot Rod Power tour, Prowlin the DQ and trips to Ft. Laud.. Orange Peeler has about 3,000 miles since Nov. 8, 2005, including the Turkey Run in November and Prowlin The Villages and numerous car shows through out central Florida.

I put almost 14,000 miles on the Mulholland in about 4 years. But considering that if I take in a Houston event or show, that will cause me to put 300 to 500 miles on it in that one trip. If I drive it to work, that's an easy 72 miles round trip!

The great thing about Cali and a hardtop is that it can be a daily driver. It's usually diven 3-4 days per week year round.

One problem I do have,is not driving it. Its were to park it, after I get there. Really I try to find a place that I can keep an eye out for it. To leave in the parking lot for eight hours, would drive me nuts. No Wally world for me.

Drive mine from April thru October each year and have put on 20,000 miles in 3 years! Most of the miles have been on POA events - Pigeon Forge, Texas Stampeed, Dells and Dream Cruise (3 times) along with local events or just out cruising!

... and 'saving it for what/who' when it can't be duplicated so no matter what the miles, it will always be unique and collectible ... why NOT drive it to keep all the seals lubricated and to allow many more people (specially those of us in the POA community) the chance to see it at a National Event or two ... my two cents! (a big tank '65 Corvette Z06 with 50k miles will still fetch well over $500k and there were more than just one of them produced ... as an example)

Mine has about 32,000 miles on it now, a 2002 model bought new (with 26 miles on it at delivery) Winter is somewhat of a restriction for me, in Wisconsin, but that's it. It's been to Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa and Minnesota at various times. It had only 250 miles on it when we took a 'road trip' weekend to Texas and back, and it's been to Woodward in 2002, 2003, and 2005. To Texas and back three times so far.... wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere, anytime. Rain can be 'washed off' and the "severe salt" of winter roads up here is all I think about, though in fact it's been driven on snowy roads 4-5 times probably. Bought it to drive, enjoy, and smile in... no other reason.
Give it to me again tomorrow, with zero miles, and I'd do exactly the same too

Unlike some, I really do enjoy cleaning it up every time, and am very proud of its' looks despite the mileage.

See ya' in Kentucky in July !!!
