Mike, I did not post this in the events discussion because I wanted the most exposure to this thread I need feedback for the Tulsa Event in 2007. The Unearthing of the 57 Plymouth is on Sat June 16 2007. From what I gather the plans are for this to be immediately followed by a parade. There is also a car show initially being planned for that weekend and I would guess that would occur on Sunday. I have recently been in contact with the Tulsa Convention & Visitors Bureau and they are willing to assist in my search for lodging for us. But I need some information. Typically our events have a Saturday or Sunday arrival date followed by departure the following Saturday. Since the 57 Plymouth event is taking place on Saturday, that kind of event scheduled will not work. I would like some feedback on the following. I am sure that we will not be able to meet everyone's needs so we will have to go with what the majority prefers.
2) I was also thinking of scheduling the departure for either Thursday June 21st or Friday June 22nd. Is this too long for the event, too short or about right. Suggestions please. I would like to schedule other activities while we are there. I would also like to make this event as relaxing as possible. I will have no control of the schedule for the main event, parade of car show. But for the rest of the time I would like to have at least one free to do what you want day. For the others days not to schedule anything that requires we get up early each morning. Sorry ED, I don't think we can wait to start activities until after you get up. 3) Based on the above dates or the consensus. I need to provide them with an idea how many rooms will be needed for each night. I am initially thinking of starting with holding 75 rooms, but we may easily exceed this based on the initial response regarding this event. I need feedback as too how many think they would attend the entire event and how many would only be there for part of it and if only part for which days. I am guessing everyone would be there Friday , Saturday and Sunday nights at the very least. I know this is really early in the process so give me you best guess. I would probably arrive on Thursday night and leave on Monday or Friday depending on the activities. Is the Alexander's Custom Car Museum somewhere in OK? If so maybe that would be a nice day trip & cruise. Dale |

Rich, when we are all in Helen, GA. next Saturday we will toss around some ideas. I agree most will be arriving that Fri-Sun but I think departure depends just on what activities are available. Regardless, like they say "plan it and they will come". |

Rich, we will be there. We don't care about what days, everyone won't show up early and everyone won't stay until the very end, anyway. Do the best you can and don't worry about it. Tulsa is an hour later ( or two} so that will help a little. lol |

We will likely arrive Friday and leave Monday. Of course we may be relocated to the east coast by then too, just when the events get closer to California! |

I will plan to be there whenever it's held. # days won't matter too much, nor will start/finish days. I can make the drive in a day. Count me in for a room. I have friends there (my first girlfriend and her sisters) from when I was knee-hi to AC. If I can stay with them, I might be able to give my room reservations to a late comer. Another friend there has his own car detail business (at least last time I was there he did - was about 3 years ago or so). Maybe he can tend to some of the cars at a discounted rate. Will need to know if there is any interest in that. I gotta forget about this for a while... I'm too excited already! |
