We have started receiving emails that should have been directed to Help@TheProwlerStore.com or admin@theprowlerstore.com. Chris Shemwell who started theprowlerstore.com wrote to us several weeks ago about his new site and if he could advertise his site on ours. We thought that theprowlerstore.com would cause confusion and appear related to the POA or Prowler Store and suggested Chris change the name of his site to something else to remove that confusion. We are happy to see another vendor produce Prowler accessories to give us more choices. Chris’s store is perfectly legal along with his products. We are just disappointed in the name he has chosen for his site. Perhaps if we put our thinking caps on we could get some positive suggestions on reducing the confusion that has started between the two sites. Please only post positive suggestions. My take, which I believe is positive but may not be popular with some of the members who worked so hard to start our Prowler Store,,,,,, is to change our website's store name to The POA Store Looking at Chris' website: I see "The Prowler Store" is copyrighted? Also, I see that he/they have two websites: Since our product buyer's have to come to www.prowleronline.com to make purchases,,,,it just seems much easier not to bump heads over similar names and just change our Prowler Store name to The POA Store ------------------ Call 911 - there is a Prowler in my garage....

Perhaps Chris could insert Tampa in the name, ie thetampaprowlerstore.com or tampabayprowlerstore.com . It is confusing even to Flori-duh Prowler Owners. Plus it looks like Chris is trying to get some Prowler owners together for somne cruises, which will go over much better if there is no confusion in names. Hey Chris, give it some thought. "Blew Buyou" said it. |

I certainly wouldn't want to run off any vendor for our cars and suggest they change their name without more information. How long has he been in business using the Prowlerstore name? Does it predate the www.prowleronline.com Prowler Store? What is his position in this matter - is he open to discussing the situation? If Alley Cats suggestion is considered - how much work, effort, and money would be involved in changing? |

I agree with AC. Please don't tell Ed that; it's still early so he might not see this post. |

No, his store does not pre-date our store. We've had conversations with him, explaining the confusion not only with our members, but with DC. He also put up links on his site without asking permission from those vendors, including prowleronline. Our agreement with DC states that our store cannot be linked to any other website since we are not allowed to sell our products anywhere except on prowleronline.com. We had to ask him to remove the link, which I believe he did. AC, since our store existed long before his, I see no reason why we should change ours. He told me that he worked on his for the past year to finally get it up and running recently. It took us two years to get our license and we worked on our store site for two years before we opened up. It has been almost a year that ours has been open. He is not licensed with DC in any way and I believe based on his statements that he did not get permission from DC to use Prowler store. Granted, he is not using the trademarks on his site. Phil and I and several people who have helped with the development of our store, have worked very hard for a long time on this. Our time and efforts have all been volunteer and all profit goes back into POA........not anyone's pocket. |

It seems like someone is going to have to give in. IF neither side is willing to budge, you have a problem. (Big IF) Is a big fight worth it? I agree that the POA store was first, is licensed etc and apparently he is not. Either ignore him, ask him to change or take serious action. I don't see any other options. I can't believe he can get by with selling unlicensed products IF D-C is as diligent as we have been led to believe. Do they want to fight him? I don't have the answers to any of the options. Someone higher up will have to decide what course of action to take. Hopefully it will be resolved peacefully. Is he licensed to sell Viper stuff? |

I think AC suggestion is worth some more conversation since we can only sell to our members it doesn't matter what the store is called .... AC - Copyrights don't mean that much the day we brought our store up it had a copyright only if someone uses the same name you have to prove you were first. We all know that we are the only ones using the Prowler on line Store. So to us changing it to POA Store makes some sense as long as it does not cost us more than it is worth to change it. We know what it is and the outside world really does not enter into the equation. As long as he is doing it right, I have no problem with the change. Glad to see that someone new is making aftermarket stuff for the Kat even if I don't buy any now or in the future. But some of us might. Just my 2 cents. Wally |

These responses, after all of the hard work of CJ and Phil put in over the last few years to get the license agreements and provide new products for everyone are very disappointing. Just my humble opinion. He is playing on all of our efforts. It sucks! Again, my opinion. We registered the name in April of 2001 and have been working on it since then. This guy just did it in March of 2005. Advantageous? Again this is my personal opinion. |

Hello to all you loyal ProwlerOnline members. I have to tell ya all that I came up with name awhile ago and only recently implemented it. It stemmed from TheViperStore.com which I had first. I plan on using other car makes with a similar name to complient my stores. When I came up with the name believe or not I was not even aware of the prowlerstore.com. It just seemed to be a logical name to compliment my TheViperStore.com I would be willing to work with any ideas to avoid any confusion, although no one that has contacted me has been confused.....however it is not practical to change my stores name. I thank you all for your points of view and hearing mine. Very Best Wishes to all!! Chris Prowl-on! |

I WOULD LIKE TO SAY IT DOESN'T TAKE GENIUS TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE IN THE PROWLER STORE.COM IN FLORIDA OR PROWLERSTORE.COM IN CALIFORNIA. I KNOW THE DIFFERENCE AND I HAVE PURCHASED ITEMS FROM BOTH, I'LL THROW MY 2 CENTS IN I THINK WERE MAKING A BIG DEAL FOR NOTHING OR MAYBE I'M MISSING SOME INFO. RICK |
