I bought my Prowler just three months ago.. instead of being happy like I was suppose to be I now have the car bug. Top of my list is a Pantera. Italian looks with American muscle. Other cars I keep looking at: Porsche 928 - I've always liked these. Have any of you had experience with these cars? Any advice? Any I should avoid at all cost? Any I should consider first? What kind of cars have you consider but haven't bought yet?

Trade the cat in for a Delorean or Bricklin,,,you'll love it and have a good time working on them. Lotus? don't those new roadsters use a Toyota motor? They should have a TRD decal on them. |

How about the Viper, Austin Martin, or the new Ford GT or a Lambo, I think Bentley also has a new sport car. |

I had to have a 427 Cobra (it had to be a 427 with two fours). It is the fastest thing I have ever driven (maybe a couple of bikes would have hung with it- MAYBE) It is loud and it rumbles and it goes sideways when you jump on it! It gets 8 miles to the gallon if, you are careful. The PROWLER was the best! Dollar for dollar and the chance to drive it anywhere-No question! I've owned several high performance cars and the prowler is still my favorite. I will buy another one when we move to a place where I can have the extra garage space (within 18 months) This message has been edited by agstoner on 08-25-2005 at 12:05 AM |

AC: Only the US Lotus Elise have a Toyota engine. The 'rest of the world' version had the Rover engine. The Esprit doesn't have any Toyota parts to it. InTheRed: I vote for the Porsche Speedster. Very affordable! |

quote: I don't plan on getting rid of the Prowler. I'll have it forever. It took me an honest to goodness year of going back and forth before I bought the one I did. I had always liked them and had a friend with one but for some reason it took me awhile to decide I NEEDED one. haha.. Delorean and Bricklin wouldn't be driven a great deal.. maybe 2k-3k per year.. I love the fact I wouldn't run into myself at stop lights. That is one of the things I like about the Prowler I don't see them all the time. |

quote: Viper.. I'm waiting on the price to come down further. I don't love the car enough to buy it, when I could have several less expensive cars that I would probably enjoy just as much. Aston Martin.. I was looking at a DB9 the other day. That is one wicked looking car! My wife even loved it. I won't buy a Viper because of the price I sure wouldn't buy an even more expensive Aston. The DB7's are more affordable but they look so much like Jaguar XK8's to me. Ford GT... <cough> <choke> I don't ever want a car payment that size. haha.. Lamob.. Countach and Diablos are coming into reach.. It is possible to find them in $80k range. That would be really cool but I'm not sure I would feel good after the purchase. I could buy alot of other cars I like for that kind of money.. Bentley... I like the old Bentley Turbo R. The price is reasonable and it IS a Bentley. Not at the top of my list though.. I'm still in sports car mode. |

The Prowler dollar for dollar.. I hear ya. Thats why I picked it second. My first pick was the car I wanted in high school but couldn't afford - convertible camaro. I had an RX-7 in high school. I would love to find a nice early 80's RX-7 to relive my high school years. Those are getting hard to find in decent shape. All the low milage examples of the car are automatics. I would love to find a 5 speed in good shape.. I forgot to mention that one on my list before. |

Sold a 04/Vette-Vert, bought a 01 Orange Prowler, than traded a 02 Sebring-Vert for a 05/ PT-Vert, high output turbo, 4 banger, fun ride, hot looking bright blue. Got a great deal, MSRP was over 28K, paid 21K, got 13K for the Sebring with over 59,000 miles, got to thank the LORD for this deal!. The Sebring was my beater ride. I have driven the Crossfire many times and it is a fun little car. In the manual it feels as quick as our cats do. I love the rear and side profile of the car, but I do not like the front end, it is to boring and to high off the ground. It just does not match the rest of the car. If they had put more hp in it and changed the front end it would have been a hit! |

Looks like a lot of people here have owned cobras, here's mine, my personal opinion is stay away from kit cobras unless you like to wrench or have deep pockets. Also if you have any doubts about your driving ability take a few classes. I don't think that I ever ran into a single car or smaller cc bike on the road that was faster then me. 6000hp in a 1900lb car is insane. They smell like exhaust, ther flex if you don't build them right, they suck gas at a enormous rate. But they are a bunch of fun if you like that sort of thing. They are like 4 wheel harleys in my opinion. Personally I would rather go Panatera then cobra or get a nice S1-S2 lotus maybe a 308. |

I owned a white 72 Pantera in the 70's. They are quick with the 351 Cleveland engine. Look for a 71 or 72 with the chrome bumpers. They are the fast ones. In 73 they went to the black bumpers and the Windsor engine (less HP). I sold mine to my dad in San Antonio for $7,000 in 1978. He drove it for years then got rid of it. I wish he still had it. RUST is the big problem with them. Charlie |

My neighbour just bought a crossfire and loves it, he also test drove the SRT version and said it pulled really good! Crossfire got great reviews from speed channel. I'm not sure how much longer Chrysler will make the crossfire....hopefully the firepower will be next! |

Hi Gang, Yes, I have a 1971 Pantera that I have had for 10 Years. It is a European model and was sold new in Italy. I love the car. I think it is the best bang for the buck out of any of the Italian exotics. My boss owns one and my father had one a few years ago. If you are thinking of buying one, Join the clubs. POCA (Pantera Owners Club of America) and PI (Pantera International). The information and support these clubs offer is vital. I would suggest buying the best Pantera you can afford and would stay away from project cars. The only thing that is cheap in a Pantera is the engine. The ZF Transaxle costs around $8000. I have seen front fenders for $1500 and rear quarter panels for $3000. So do not buy a rusty car, it will not be a bargain. The good news is that just about every part is available and most parts have been further developed and upgraded over the years by the various Pantera parts shops. (Hall Pantera, Pantera Performance Center, Panteras by Wilkonson, ETC.) I think the Pantera is very similiar to the Prowler. They both don't look like anything else on the road. The Clubs and aftermarket suppliers are top notch. Many owners love to modify both cars and the wilder the better. The engines in each car have been looked down upon by others. You know what I mean...The prowlers should of had a V8 and the Pantera should of had a V12. The Prolwer is not always accepted by the hot rod crowd and the Pantera is not always accepted by the Italian exotic crowd. I guess I like it that way. Pantera ------------------ |

I have had most of all,I have had 2 cobras both glass bodies and one 351C and other 427 side oiler.Believe me the 351 is all you will need or want since 427 is so heavy in front it is no joy to drive around.I have at this time a 32 Ford(steel)streetrod and love it.I just purchased a Lexus 430SC and I believe it is the best all around car I've had.Really good prower, gas,so much fun to drive. You need to buy what suits you. |
