I've Been tossing the idea around for some time now about pulling the DULL stock wheel off, and going for a real aggressive wheel. Very RAW look no leather, maybe flames or a razor look. Now I know there goes the stereo controls and air bag; will have to pay for state inspection now; But the look should be worth it. I HOPE!!!

Has anyone done this??? if so could you PLEASE post pics.

The car is not a daily driver; so I shouldn't miss the air bag----GOD WATCH OVER ME

I think the stock steering wheel is a little "heavy" looking. I wouldn't change mine, but I think it would look cool.

I just order and installed a new wheel on my 32 Ford streetrod and it is billet w/finger groves on bottom side.Upper side is leather covered and they didnt have color I wanted so they put on my material to match interor.Mine is a banjo style.Sure is nice but pricey, about $300.00.

George Maxey has changed his a couple of times. When mine ceases to be a daily driver I may considewr changing the steering wheel, but the air bag, cruise control and radio switches are more important to me right now than a new look.

Yes, george does have a billet one. He had it made to match his first set of wheels, so I am pretty sure Boyd made it for him.

New steering wheel would look cool though giving up the radio controls.

AC is right...stock wheel is from Jeep Cherokee.

Yes .... Boyd Coddington made my billet steering wheel. If you go to my web site and look at the new interior shots in the gallery, you;ll see the latest steering wheel. Any questions ... just ask.

Even if you pay for inspection in NJ, you could fail unless you know the owner to pass you. The air bag lite on dash will be on and that is what failed me. (Visual check, no code in computer) I knew the clockspring was bad and had 45 days to put the new one in. So if you change the steering wheel, pop the dash and remove the bulb for the air bag. I have 2 yrs before my next inspection and if the clockspring goes again you know what I'm doing to pass.

Everyone-

Thanx for the post's. I'm still not sure about the wheel no controls, no bag , and no horn. sounds dangerous.

To George- That is one SICK RIDE. You brought custom kat to an unbelievable level. I see where you keep your $$$
not in the bank in the garage!!! All I wanted to do was change my steering wheel and rearview mirror. If that's how you started out; I may just keep mine stock or I'll have to HOLD UP A BANK. Seriously your ride is HOT. I would like to see it IRL.
