Can't believe it's been a week since we returned from Hot Rod Power Tour! Between that and Memorial Day weekend (some extra days thrown in)......it seems like we've been gone a month!! 3,487 miles round trip in the Candy Cat!! What a trip! It was such a blast to travel with the Long Haul Prowler group on HRPT! We had a great time with our Prowler travelin' buddies........Bob Goetz, Marty & Lindsay Usher, Tom & Dee Kayuha (#33), Frank Peri, Don McCormick and Jim Kenney & his friend. Phil and Dave Genet joined in and drove the remainder of the trip with us, too. Special thanks to: Bob Goetz & Marty......for loads of laughs and great company! It was also fun to have some of the other Prowler owners that we haven't seen in a while, join in on different segments of the trip and meet some new owners on the way, not counting those who joined us for dinner on various nights: Bob & Colleen Hacker It was an interesting trip.......very hot and humid...some light rain on the way.......LOTS of rain in FL. We made the visit to the Corvette plant (another post - story), Don Garlits Racing Museum and Troy Trapanier's shop - via the long way around!! There were thousands of great cars.......and like Dream Cruise, you saw anything and everything. I didn't get to take many pictures........I did all the driving, but many memories. Bob ran into a number of people he knew (as always) and it was fun seeing them too! Ran into a number of hot rodders from different parts of Michigan, too. Saturday morning was the Long Haulers group picture and awards, GTO and engine give-away and then we jumped back into the car and headed for home. Made it to Chatanooga Saturday night and arrived home Sunday night about 8:00 p.m. with a Wendy's stop-over in KY just in time to talk a guy and his wife into becoming new Prowler owners (another post-story)!! Glad to be home, but had a lot of catching up to do, so this is the first time I've had the energy to sit down and do some posting.......I only had 140 emails this time! LOL! Again.........thanks to all the Prowler owners who helped make the HRPT a great trip. Three of the long haul Prowlers were Canadian, so we were calling it the CAN-AM Prowler Hot Rod Power Tour!! Sounds as if you guys and gals had a great time. Wish I could have made it. CJ, I think Bob can not travel anywhere without meeting someone he knows. He has many friends. Hey, AC, I think Ed and Marty should wear name tags with "WARNING" on them , don't you???? ( lol ) Glad every one had a great time and made it home without an incident. I read every year in Hot Rod where some poor sole gets his or her car damaged by some type of accident. |

Okay, someone took a lot of pictures while at RadRides. Let's post them. As usual, had my jaw flapping and didn't take any pictures. CJ's trailer got run into in Nashville. Appraiser was out this morning. The really said story from the Power Tour was the guy with the rare survivor Mustang that got hit really hard in Springfield on the way to Milwaukee for the start. Friends helped replace the right front suspension but this car had never even had any paint work. It was recently featured in one of the Mustang magazines. It was that nice and rare. Give the guy credit. Fixed it enough to make the Long Haul! |

Bob - I guess I too busy listening to you & Troy and his father - Jack? - I didn't take a single pic. Over on the HotRod board you can tell the Mustang guy is a true "carguy" . Sure he didn't like what happened but he posted that had he decided to get mad and go back home he would have missed a great event. The front fender alone is costing the insurance company four figures and will be a NOS fender, not an aftermarket one.

I forgot to post that we ran into Nyle Wing while on Power Tour. He stayed at the same hotel as us in Birmingham and was driving a White late model TransAm. Of course he was doing a burnout and "drifting" as he left the hotel parking lot for dinner! ------------------ |

Cool guys...........check out Day 8, picture 11. Hard to see, so I tried blowing it up. Even though it's a bit blurry, you can see the long hauler Prowler group sitting together. If you look almost center, you'll see Frank Peri with the dark blue baseball cap (mustache and goatee). Moving North and then to the Northwest, you'll see Don McCormick, Marty (with his hand on his face) Bob Goetz (blue hat), Bob Longstreth, CJ, Jim Kenney's friend (sorry forgot his name) and Jim Kenney!
