In my quest to give my Prowler an even softer than I get by using a Wonder Bar, I've been working on this project for over a year now and am very happy to finally see it nearing completion. I'm having 4 new springs made by a major spring manufacturer and should receive them late next week. Prices for my prototype springs are very high but a production run should bring the prices into a moderate range of $100.00-$150.00 each. I'll post more information after I get the front springs installed. Anybody interested in either 2 or 4 spring packages? ------------------ This message has been edited by Larry Lord on 05-27-2005 at 12:49 AM |

Larry - how much improvement in ride quality do you think the springs alone - without the wonderbar - would give you? The extra lowering will look cool for sure. |

Sounds interesting. Would it not make sense to use a set of other shocks like aldaneagle coil over hot rod shocks for the front. They have a little bit more travel and are have 3 coils with different spring rate to try. The shock have adjustable rebound to. In the Street Rod scene more and more Rods use air-ride systems. We have it in 3 Hot Rods and its perfect. Soft or sport ride, and you can park it low down. But, the right spring will be a no trouble option ! Larry, Your torsion brace certainly improved the ability of my '99 car to manage unexpected potholes. I'm confident your spring packgage would perform up to expectations as well. You have a private message. Chromer |

Larry, I would be interested in a complete 4 spring set. Your products have always been as advertised and top quality. I would request keeping the ride height stock. Thanks |

quote: Are you proposing the lower ride height strictly for appearance purposes, or is there a performance difference? Based on Dan's graphics, there's a substantial change in front-end geometry. What was your thought-process for going lower? -GRROWL |

My thoughts for lowering are strictly cosmetic. I had just assumed that most people would like to lower their cars a little. Dans graphic shows about a 4" drop. That's far more than I'm doing for my own car. Keeping the ride heights stock actually makes my job a little easier and that's the way I'm leaning right now for the production run of springs. Stock heights will allow for more spring travel and will not effect the alignment in any way. Lowering the car decreases spring travel and can effect alignment but since the lowering is minimal I doubt the need for re-alignment but still will recommend it. I do however still need to research the bump steer and camber increase/decrease factors before I put any lowering springs on the market. One thing I hadn't said yet that I was planning on making the softer riding lowering springs and then using a short spacer to get the stock ride height for those that want to keep their car at stock height. There is plenty of travel in the springs to allow the use of differing height spacers without getting into coil binding problems. If they fit the 99 and back shocks count me in for the all 4 if they are around 100-120 bucks or so. Because the early cars were lower then the 00 and up cars will these springs lower us more or keep use the same. (I have not lloked at the shocks to closely but I assuem that they are a threaded coilover correct.

Sounds good but i think the car is low enough for a daily driver. I crunch my teeth when I see debris in the road and I can't get around it! By the way...stay with the tried and true....it has to be Wonder Springs!

You may need some skid plates to go with the springs... Is there any way to get the softer ride and keep the ground clearance stock ? |

I picked up the prototype front springs today. They were not made the way I designed them but they should work well for testing purposes. I'll get them installed in my car by the weekend and should have something to "road test" report by Sunday |

Lowering the front even 1 inch, I couldn't get in my driveway. Softer ride or not, that would limit where I could go. Sorry, but I need the clearance |
