Can the Prowler wheels be used on other, heavier cars or trucks if the wheel lug spacing matches?

I was thinking of putting Prowler wheels on my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 regular cab truck...17" on front and 20" on rear to match prowler...

I would probably lower the truck first ... 2" in front and 4" in rear to level it...then use Prowler wheels with air-type Prowler sized tires...

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I'm not sure what the bolt pattern is on the newer truck but if it is 4 1/2 " pattenr they should work.

Getting tires the right height might be a problem, I think the stock tires would have too short of a side wall for the truck.

The Prowler wheels are American racing Torque Thrust wheels.

You could probably find the same wheel by AR but in the size you wanted without having to fit Prowler specs to the formula.

Good luck!

I've got a set of 4 chrome 20" Prowler wheels. Not mint. Some chrome pitting on the backside surfaces. The front sides are in good shape. Good for your daily driver. No center caps. Will sell for $1000. U pay shipping. Send me a PM.

The Torque Thrust wheel sure looks quite a bit different from a Prowler wheel to me....

Thanks for the tips!

Remaining question: With the Prowler only weighing in at 2900 pounds, would it be safe to use Prowler wheels on a 4600 pound truck? I am sure the wheels are designed with some factor of safety but there IS a lot of air in between our Prowler 'spokes'...!!!

Bob, I do not know the answer to your question, however, folks keep claiming the wheels get out of round fairly easily. Therefore I would think they bend due to pot holes, etc. If it is going to be a work truck that could be a problem.

Ed,
Is that problem more common with the Run Flats though? I'm sure the stiff side wall has quite a bit to do with that problem... I wonder if people with the Dunlop tires are having better luck...

Also I don't think the offset on the wheels is correct for a pickup but that's just a guess..

Bob, You raise a good point. I'm not sure what the load rating of these wheels are but I'm sure it can be determined with a little research.

Ed, My understanding is that these wheels are cast vs. forged construction and are therefor weaker than forged alloy type wheels. I have also heard of many Prowler rims being bent by potholes but only front rims, not rears. (That's why I have 2 spare new front wheels in boxes )

Has anyone ever seen a rear rim out of round?

Ron, that is a good point. I don't know the answer to that either. It is something to think about before making a decision.
