The Prowler concept vehicle was on display at the Detroit Autorama back in 1996. After handing out tons of brochures and posters during the evening (for Chrysler) they gave me a chance to sit in the concept vehicle. I was more in love than ever after that! |

Wow CJ, You were very fortunate to be honored as one of the select few to sit in a 'concept vehicle'. I could not even get a dealer to let me sit in a Prowler production vehicle years after it went on sale! The first time I sat in one was when I bought one! |

Quincy, I am with you. I never sat in one until I paid for it. |

I've seen lots of photos of the exterior, but none of the interior. CJ, how about a brief description, or better yet, have you got photos? Kevin ------------------ |

quote: Yeah... headlights are supposed to be certain distance apart from each other - the ones on the concept were just a tad too close together..... too bad, I love the concept's headlights too |

CJ,what you're saying is like Deja-vu! My first really ever encounter with a Prowler was also at the Auto Show when the car was ropped off and a friend was working a display allowing me to sit in it....and the rest became very clear.I never even asked how much it was....but how soon I can get it! |

Roman........there was only one concept vehicle. There was also a fiberglass deck model which they used. There were also pre-production Prowlers that were used for the auto shows.
The headlights on the Prowler did not meet the lighting standards and had to be changed to be compliant. They have to be a certain distance apart and a certain height from the ground..........also a specific standard of illumination power. prowlrman........As far as we know the concept vehicle is still exists.

First: Thanks so much, CJ, for sharing all this with us. We appreciate the effort it takes to locate, scan and post this, simply to satisfy our curiosity. Now, allow me to push the envelope. Since the Dells is my first national event, and since it's likely to be one of the closest national events to the beloved Motor City, and since corporate is in the beloved Motor City (or close by ), how would one go about requesting the presence of the concept vehicle at the Dells event? Neat idea, huh? Disclaimer: I am not stupid enough to think this is likely to happen. BUT, I believe it never hurst to ask...expecially "pretty please?". Kevin |

Kevin, Well, having the concept vehicle at an event would be a very cool thing. However, the concept Prowler is a million dollar vehicle (or more) and they would never spend the money it would take to transport it to an event like ours. However, if you come to Dream Cruise this year, I am hoping to get a tour arranged at the facility that houses and takes care of all DC's concept vehicles.......including the Prowler concept. |

Thanks CJ,Great pictures, the console looks better than the production cars and placement of either door lock/power window controls.... Wish they would have use the concept ideas even for the speaker cover.. Just an opinion.Awesome ! |

CJ, thanks for posting these and all of the early pictures and articles you've posted. One question, did they only make one Prowler concept? |

Yes, only one........there were some pre-production cars, but only one concept. |
