Just received an updated list of the new, untitled Prowlers still in dealer inventory. There are only 94 left on the unsold list. This message has been edited by CJ on 03-23-2005 at 09:33 PM |

What's your opinion on how many are REALLY for sale, and not just asking some ridulous price so the dealer has a play toy? I think there's a difference between being for sale, and never being titled. |

Rpowell has the same point I was thinking...though from my limited understanding of dealership workings, don't they have to pay out the nose for the Prowlers still sitting there on the lot? |

I think... that the dealer has to pay for every month each car sits on the lot. That's why they have big inventory clearance sales in the fall. |

The accountant in me causes me to look at numbers and think about them. So here is the percentage unsold compared to the original production of a color: 1997 Purple 1 396 0.25% This message has been edited by blubyu on 03-24-2005 at 11:54 AM |

Here is my perspective on this, as a dealer. The prowler had virtually no mark-up. If I remember correctly on a 2001 I had, there was about $2000 between msrp and invoice. The hold back was about $1000. So, with so little to work with, and a declining market value, many of these dealers are simply "waiting" for the value to increase to get their money back out of the vehicle, or minimize losses. I remember I lost $8,000 selling one of my new 2001 Mulholland on ebay in 2003. Just had to take the loss and move on. I would guarantee that most of the dealers "own" these prowlers. Banks will only let you floorplan new vehicles for a year, and then you have to pay them off. Depending on what kind of writeoff a dealer wants to take, December is the best time to negotiate. All sports cars will increase dramatically in value about this time of the year (northeast) getting ready for the spring market. chris |

The Woodward is probably at Caldwell Chrysler Plymouth in Columbus, Oh. They wanted $80,000 for it in 2000 when I bought my black. I heard that the owner still has the car. |

Those figures indidcate only 9 new cars were sold in the past couple of months: 6 Incas, 1 Mulholland and tw0 '02 Yellows. This was the count on Jan 17th. 4 - 99 Black I guess that works out to about one new Prowler being sold per week in the middle of winter. Wow! There are a lot of 99 Red's. I wonder if some owner caused a "concern" with that particular year and color. Hey Ed, what year is your red again??? |

Bill, since it is the best color and year, the dealers all kept one for themselves!!!! Really!! Glad to see you are still lurking. I drove I-275 today past the Milford exit and thought of you not heeding my directions to the letter. lol. I am still sorry about that mistake. |
