After nearly eating ourselves to death Thanksgiving, several of us were lying on the floor and on the furniture watching football like a bunch of beached whales. Between the groaning, long sighs, snoring, and other bodily noises the conversation turns to Prowlers and this young guy from NYC tells me the 3.5L engine used in Prowlers is manufactured by Mitsubishi and is used in several DC and Mitsubishi cars. I told him I doubted that since it took my local DC dealership a week to find an alternator for my Prowler. Does anyone know (1) does DC in fact make this engine and (2) is it used on other vehicles? Thanks |

quote: I'm pretty sure it is used in the 300M (front wheel drive version). Can't say about the manufacturer. This message has been edited by Bcoffman Gray Ghost on 11-26-2004 at 01:01 PM |

The 3.5 has been used in the 99-2003? 300M and Intreped. It is the standard engine in the Pacifica and is the middle range engine in the new 300 and Magnum. Mitsu has made V6 engines for Chrsyler for use in minivans, & Sebringsamongst other vehicles but to my knowledge the 3.5 was developed and produced by DC. |

The 3.5L engine dates back to the early Intrepids and Eagle [remember those?] car lines. The original was a cast iron block and dual throttle bodies. That motor was used in the 1997 Prowlers, before the change to aluminum, single throttle body, and higher compression came into the picture. DC produced is correct. Bob - what kind of other bodily noises were the whales producing? |
