How long have you had your Kat? Well it's 2 years today!! I am in my partners wedding party, putting on my tux, and the enclosed car carrier with my sweet 2000 black Kat, brand new, arrives at my front door. All the way from Emmitsburgh Iowa. Got a quick spin around the hood, then into a limo and off to the wedding. My wife shows up at the church in the new Prowler and almost steals all the glory. Almost. Any other interesting first day stories? ------------------ |

i picked up my 2000 black cat at the dealer... hit the highway and passed a show and shine at the exhibition grounds, just as i was getting up to speed.... there were probably 100 or so people standing with their back towards me checking out the cars...i opened my baby up for the first time and my son said "hey dad, look !" he was pointing to the crowd. they had all turned around to look at me..... about half of them were pointing ! the hair on the back of my neck stood up on end .... |

The color I actually ordered was yellow, but it never got there(allotment back then was pretty thin to say the least). After a few weeks a black one comes in and the person who ordered it had to cancel for his personal reasons. The moment I saw it...that was it! |

I saw my first Prowler in 1994 during Chryslers at Carlisle. I told my wife that if they built it, we would have one. After returning home, I went to the dealer where I have been buying my mopars since 1984. I agreed to buy six Dakotas for my business from him in exchange for his first Prowler at list. He agreed. In February of 1998 my Prowler was delivered to the dealer. It was, of course, a '97 purple. The next day, the dealer shows up at my office and asks me if I will sell the Prowler. At this point, I haven't even taken delivery yet. There was apparantly an offer from Ohio at $20,000 over list for the car. It was february with 10 inches of snow on the ground and I couldn't use the car anyway, so I agreed. In exchange I pocketed $5000.00 and the next Prowler which turned out to be yellow and I took delivery at list price in July of 1998. When I read posts like some of the above, it continues to make me realize how very very lucky I am that my wife shares most of my interests. The only thing she has ever said I can't have is a motorcycle, (would love to have a Harley Chopper) but only because she is sure I would end up killing myself. She is probably right. |

Yeah...I've got a good one. My wife and I had two 2001 Limited Edition PT Cruisers. We took one to the dealer for an oil change and came home with a Silver 2001 Prowler! My neighbors freaked! (I told them the PT finally matured.) It was one of the best days of my life...except for the payments! ------------------ |

In the early 90s I saw the Prowler concept car a car show in Washington, DC while stationed at the Pentagon. I drooled and knew I could never afford one if they produced it. After the military, I moved to Africa for several years and then to Nepal with another government agency. I kept looking at the Prowler almost daily on the internet for years; still drooling and dreaming. While in Nepal I decided I had to buy one no matter what. I saved my nickles and dimes and when I returned to the US last summer after eight years overseas I began my search in earnest. My wife asked why I didn't discuss the pros and cons it with her. I told her I knew she wouldn't approve because it wasn't a "practical" car. And since I was buying it with funds I had set aside for it, there was nothing to debate. In retrospect, I should have been more diplomatic, but I was on a mission. I found my orange cat in October 2003 in Philly. On Saturday I awoke at 5 am to catch the train to Philadelphia. I was like a little kid getting ready to go see what Santa had brought during the night! We were picked up at the station in Philly and when I saw the Prowler for the first time, I had to tell myself to breathe! Driving home from Philly it was a cool, overcast day but it didn't matter. I was experiencing nervana. Each car that passed us on the highway slowed down to have a good look and give the thumbs-up and smile. My wife, sitting next to me, said the car wasn't "practical," but she loved it anyway. Three months later she was reassigned to Mozambique. No, I wouldn't let her take the Prowler with her. At least I don't have to sleep on the sofa, and when we talk, she always asks about the Prowler! It's a part of the family afterall... |

The first time I heard about the Prowler was in 1993 in our local newspaper. They did some articles on concept cars. I saw the Prowler and I was going to get one if it came to production. I was first on the list for a 97 Prowler at the dealership. The dealer called and said the Prowler was in but it would cost $90,000. I passed on it.In 1998 while on vacation in Victoria,Vancouver Island my wife and I saw a yellow Prowler cruising around and we said thats the color we want. Took delivery of my yellow '99 in March '99. There was snow on the ground but the roads were fairly dry,I had to drive it home. What a great day that was. |
