From Car And Driver Evo Owners Decry Warranty Rejections In June, several Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution owners began posting notices on Evo-enthusiast Web sites saying their warranties had been canceled because they’d participated in timed racing events or installed aftermarket goodies on their cars. Owners complained that Mitsubishi used the Internet to dig up names of these offenders. Owners found out about this when they visited dealers for repairs and were told that their warranties had been restricted because of the two activities …
I know I’ve seen posts on this subject over the years, but this is the first time it’s been validated by a journalism resource. |

I love how manufacturers advertise how sporty their cars are and then deny warranty work when the car is used as advertised. I hope DC reads this board, so they know what cheap bastids they are when it comes to providing quality warranty coverage...(cough... peeling wheels..cough...) Does that mean Marty should not mention his 3rd motor here? |

I debated getting the extended warranty, but I never did. My car has now been out of warranty for three years so let them look, won't bother me. |

DC does monitor this site to keep current on problems that occur with the cars, etc. and to help answer questions when needed. |

Look at it this way, you custom paint a motorcycle for me, then I let one of my kiddos do some work on your paint job. I end up not liking what they did then expect you to repaint it for free..... |

I guess this re-inforces my "STOCK" position on the board. I may be slightly out of warranty, though. |

I guess I'm wondering why the manufacturer should be held accountable for customer modifications that go wrong? How is that their responsibility? Just like Prowler...the car was not designed or built with superchargers, nitrous, etc. in mind. So when Prowler owners make these changes to their cars, why should DC be expected to pay? |

I think they refer to unrelated items. For example, they add a supercharger, but DC won't cover the air compressor for the A/C that broke, telling them they won't cover it due to the supercharger being added. Where the problem has nothing to do with the mod, but DC claims it does, and won't cover the repair. I recall reading a similar post in the past year that this type of thing happened to someone. Wish I could recall the exact issue. Seems like it was RR Bob it happened to, but I could be wrong. Whoever it was felt DC was wrong, but just let it go. |

Speaking of EXTENDED warranties...I have one--I only paid DC $50 to transfer from orig owner to me--yet it is only good til Jan '07 OR 60,000 miles. I'm not complaining, but asking, since I'm still kinda a newbie, can this warranty be extended further [CJ], or is that pretty much it? Reason I'm asking izzat there's nearly 44k on the odo! Thanks in advance for your continuing fantastic info~it's always appreciated! ------------------ This message has been edited by Tytanium-K on 08-05-2004 at 06:53 AM |

Here at Bryden Motors in Beloit WI. we will warranty anything that is not related to the mod done to your vehicle. If you put a supercharger on your car and blow the motor. The motor is not covered. But the rest of the car is covered. Marc |

Remember they had the wrong initials and spelled my last name wrong and sent it to my previous address, even though I bought the car long after I moved. Instills a lot of confidence in me. lol I hope I never have to use it. |

I think you can extend the warranty to 70K miles (or is it 100K?). I had called Bob a while back asking about an extended warranty for mine and was told since it was older than 4 years old that I was SOL, but that I could call State Farm and they may have one for me. As I understand it, as long as your car is under 4 years since the in service date, you can extend the warranty past your 60K. |

Our orange cat has a 100,000 mile coverage with $100 deduct that the original owner paid for. I'd rather have a 50-60K limit with $0 or $50 deduct. Wonder if that is possible to do? |
