I own a 2000 Yellow prowler, I bought it used and the rims are aluminum and not chrome, I was told that Chrome was stock staring in 2000 for the yellow cats, Is this true
I am trying to sell it and was wondering if that needed to be disclosed, I dont know much about it and figured I bought it stock. Thanks for your time, This board is full of gracious nice people. Great day to all!!

James2512,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...but..yes...someone pulled the old "switch-a-roo" on your wheels.

If you have a Yellow car and it's not a 1999 model..you've been had.

Unfortuantely there are some unscrupulous folks out there that swap out wheels and suspension systems and don't disclose the change.

CONFIRMED... Chrome wheels were an Option in 1999, but Standard in 2000, 2001 & 2002.

Check the 10th digit of the VIN... "Y" = Model Year 2000... "X" = Model Year 1999. This 10th digit is proof positive as to the Model Year of your Kat.

Either you have a 1999 with Standard painted wheels or a 2000 that someone changed the wheels from Standard Chrome to the painted ones.

GOOD LUCK, Jay

James, While we were looking to purchase our 2000 model the dealer had two Prowlers on the lot. A black and purple. One had brush wheels and the other had chrome. I did not know at the time and ask, why the difference? He stated that if I would buy he would put what ever wheels I preferred. We bought from and individual and it came stock with chrome wheels.

Some 99s had the painted wheels. The later 99s came with the chrome, listed as an "option" but there really was no choice. Once they switched to chrome, all came with chrome, $ 1000 more. The Red paint was also a $ 1000 "option". I think some 99 yellows had painted and some had chrome. All 99 reds had chrome, I am fairly sure.
