... keep up with your stickers? As I pulled in to get gas today, a cop was also pulling in as he pulled someone over. He saw my car and just stared at it. (I was trying to hurry the gas up before he came over to me, but I didn't make it.) After he wrote the guy up, he came around the front of my car and pulled up along side. He then said, "Oh my God!" Then called me over to him and asked, "What's the deal with your car?" Knowing fully what he meant, I asked what he means. He said, "That's a damn nice car, but what's with your stickers?" I again played dumb, took a double take at my car, and told him a story. I have no front plate, my inspection is over 2 years old, and my registration sticker is a year and a half old. He then pulled up behind me and ran my plate. I just knew he was going to write me up, but I got lucky, and he finally just left. Do you guys keep your stickers up to date, or do you let them slide too? |

Indiana....no inspections......no front plates.....I usually have a few real up to date plates to share when necessary......many of my cars have personalized plates made at car shows....have driven this Kat around town for several years with fake California plates, it says "MOONEYES"...I just liked the color with the yellow car.....go figure..... |

I always keep up to date with all of my tags and inspections. The state of NH makes it easy. It all expires on your birth month. Kinda hard to forget that. Brian |

I was going home after work. I was at a stop light. This Sheriff pull's up next to me and say's "your sticker is expired"."You'd think if someone can afford a car like that, that they could afford to get a sticker". I tell him "to be honest with you I didn't even notice that it was expired". I didn't get a ticket, so I was lucky. |

Here in New York, a front plate is required. It is also a violation to have any type of covering over a plate (even clear glass). I have no front plate and a very nice rear plate frame with a clear cover. No problems so far. I have noticed a trend at a lot of car gatherings and car shows. New York requires a registration stocker and an inspection sticker on the lower corner of the windshield. Some of the hot rod guys, especially he ones with chopped tops use a color copier to reduce the stickers to about 1/2 original size. Not legal but a cool idea. |

Why would you not keep up on your stickers. That is basically driving without a legit plate. The fine is a lot higher than the plate in Ohio. |

Mickey: That was just a joke about the stickers right?? If he had written you up by the time you paid the fines you could have bought those stickers several times over. Plus if you are that far behind you got over a little bit anyway...... You know the 11th commandment right?? The sticker less guy will be punished .....JMO Uncle Larry

Ok... For those that want me to drive it, I do. For those that think I forgot, I didn't. I have always gone as long as I can without paying for a new inspection, on any vehicle I owned. Usually, I get caught after about 9 months, but have made it just over a year before. All they ever do for that is either issue a warning, or a ticket. If you get a ticket and get it inspected within 10 days, ticket is dismissed with a $10 court cost. Granted, after letting this one go for over 2 years, I'd probably have to pay the ticket, but it would be cheaper than paying for 2 years inspections. On the registration sticker, I do get that every year, but I wait to put it on til I get it inspected, and just have them remove both stickers, then put my new one on. I carry it with me in the car, along with my front plate, stored behind the passenger seat. It's just easier getting away with it in the Prowler. Mickey - you are one of a kind! Just to show you how much I pay attention to that kind of stuff - I never even noticed your stickers being out! Pull those old things off - use a little Windex to clean it up - then put your new ones on - before I send one of my "boys" to ruff you up a little. ------------------ |

In NC, no front plate required. Annual registation/plate renewal fee of $50.00 for a personalized tag ($20 for others) with a sticker that goes over prior year on the plate. Multiple renewal notices that bug you so much, you renew to stop them. It's easy in that you can get it done in person at DMV office, mail in or do online. Annual safety/emission inspection sticker is another matter. ------------------ |
