Everyone knows that some of the Prowlers out there have issues with the paint bubbling because the aluminum was not treated properly before it was painted. The Aluminum oxidizes (white powder) under the paint and therefore bubbles the paint. Fortuity for me it was only on the bottom of the drivers door. I had the door repainted and I would like to see if Chrysler would reimburse me even though my car is out of warranty? Has anyone had any luck in doing so? If so who did; who did you talk to and where did you send the bill? PS- It cost me $404. (Shop under bid the job) ------------------ This message has been edited by spoons on 07-15-2004 at 08:39 AM |

I had a Camaro that needed repainting due to brake dust from the rail cars imbedded in the paint. (NOW you see all the cars in transit covered in plastic now due to that!) GM offered a one year guarantee on paint. I was within that warranty. My guess, that DC will do ANYTHING to get out of reimbursing you, and probably only guaranteed paint for one year. Besides, you had it repainted before a DC rep could even look at it, so even with pictures youhave, it's your word against theirs, IF the warranty was not a factor. I would eat the bill, chalk it up to being a Prowler owner, and move on. Otherwise you'll probably go crazy trying to get reinmursed. (My opinion with a few facts....) |
