I have been mulling over a Prowler Event down here in Fairfield Glade, Tennessee. This is a resort community of 9,000 retired people who are active and fun loving. There is a very high concentration of Concourse quality vintage vehicles here. There are many things to do right inside the community. Horseback riding; two outdoor pools w/ cabana & showers; 5 drop dead gorgeous golf courses; outdoor and indoor pickleball + tennis; over 9 miles of hand built hiking trails-most with spectacular views; 2 full service restaurants; a community center with arcade games + golf simulator + indoor pool + hot tub + sauna + showers; two large lakes with marinas + rental pontoon boats + pontoon rides + fishing. Wellness Center with fully equipped Gym, pool, showers, and classes in yoga, total body, muscle max, tai-chi, studio cycling, etc. Monday evening outdoor live concert at Mirror lake which is fully catered with open bar and bbq food. (My favorite) Yes, open container is permitted in FG. We are NOT incorporated. We have our own private police dept and fire department. Altitude is 2,000+ feet. Cool evenings, beautiful days with low humidity. Mosquitoes have a hard time breathing at this altitude so are few and far between. Sharon and I have been here 3+ years and I have not been bored one single day. Would like to do June 8 - 15 (one week). The 4th annual FFG car show will be held June 9th. Sponsored by the snooty and snobby local corvette club. (I'd love to have a bunch of Prowlers blow all the vetts out of the water!) We could still do the 'traditional things' down here. Or, two hour pleasant drive down to Chattanooga via 127. A very vibrant town on the river with lots to do and see. Beautiful world class aquarium, and Ruby Falls deep in the earth. The plan would be to have Windham set up the places to stay. These are very nice attached 'Condo quality time shares' which you can rent like a hotel room. 2-3 bedroom, full kitchens, fireplaces, carports, 2.5 bath, dining area, back decks, A/C, fully equipped; you could live in one comfortably. I have not talked to Windham as of yet. Hopefully they would embrace the potential business and work with us...... Let's see how much interest there might be and I'll dig in further. This could be a laid back adventure or action adventure....your call. |

Love that area and have been near there for other Prowler events. Not a bad trip from our part of Florida. We would be interested in going to this Prowler event. |

If my buddy Dru is going to be there, then you can count us in. How about it Jeff, you and Carol coming down? We’ve run the Tail of the Dragon twice on the Goldwing, I’d love to do it in the Prowler. Mary Anne says definitely if we can stop in Nashville and go to the Grand old Opry on the way home. Sounds like a fantastic time! Jer |

TN would be awesome. But once again we cannot attend any event in June because my boss pre-schedules his annual fishing trip for every June. I can't be off while he is. I know Linda and I need to retire but unfortunately finances (new house among other things) forces us to continue working. |

We will be interested, but it doesn't take many Prowlers to make it a event. 5 or 6 can be as much fun as 25 or 30. Plan it and you will be surprised. |

Some other things to do that I believe the group would enjoy: Cruise up scenic 127 North to Pall Mall, home of Sgt. Alvin C. York. A museum, grist mill, and hardware store stuck in 1895. Nice windy roads. Nice scenery. Cruise down scenic 127 South to Pikeville and up Dayton Mountain. Afternoon trip to Wooden's Apple Barn. Great homemade food, apples, cider, pies, ice cream, etc. Dayton mountain is a blast in the Prowler. Need to verify they (Wooden) are open in June.... Saturday evening cruise to Cumberland Mountain State Park for their buffet. Slow smoked pork ribs....best you have ever eaten! Also, Chicken, brisket, fish, and all the sides, all you can eat for $17.00. Beer and wine also served. These are the best ribs I have ever had. Fall off the bone. Very scenic area showing Homestead Homes made from local Crab Orchard sandstone....Roosevelt's wife Eleanor had this park built because she liked the area so much... Day trip to Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg, along with the George Dickel Distillery, not far from Jack's. Both distilleries have a very nice campus with tastings, historic tours, and plenty of parking. Need to find a place to eat near by. Drive down 70 toward Knoxville and up to Roosevelt Mountain. Scenic views from the top of a very high mountain. Falls creek Falls State Park off hwy 30 and 284....Very beautiful waterfall coming out the sheer cliff of a mountain. There is a State Park Restaurant here as well. We have a wonderful live theater playhouse in Crossville. We all could take in a live play; I need to check the 2018 schedule. Very good actors and the playhouse is a gem. Free wine tasting at the Stonehouse Winery on Genesis in Crossville, then dinner at Lefties Smokehouse. The winery has very good wine! You will wind up taking a few bottles home.... We can have a small trophy for the person who travels the furthest. We can have decals made up commemorating the event..and a t-shirt made up. All tentative. Any more thoughts or ideas from other "Locals" in the area please chime in. If we collect enough serious interest I'll move this thread over to the 'events page' and start working on some important details (housing & parking) in January. |

Not everyone goes on to the site everyday. I'll give it a week here and then move it over to 'events'. In the meantime feel free to post other ideas or requests. Other Tennessee residents are requested for help and planning. Anyone can help out. I've not done this before and I know it's not an easy task! But, it sounds like there is some interest. We don't have to do a full seven days....five may suffice. |
