My Kat in the Shop again. Repairs this time are Wheel sensor module (first time for this) Front shocks replaced ( second time for this last replaced 8/13/03)Both leaking Fuel level sensor and gas gauge ( second time for both ) A side note when reviewing all the repairs on my Kat we found that only 1/2 the repairs show up on the car. I was informed that they only show last 2 years. In my case that is not true either as shocks and gas sensor not in system. They could not explain why. Just food for thought. I can't figure out why some Prowlers have recurring (common)problems no matter how many times certain parts have been replaced, and others NEVER have that problem. DC probably deletes recurring problems in the computer, so you can't cry lemon law....LOL. :: ...Good thing we love this car enough to look over it's faults.... |

I hope your not having the same problem I had with the fuel gauge. It would only read 3/4 when it was actually full. It took me seven trips to get them to fix it. Seems they had a problem with the unit that is on top of the gas tank that lets the air out as you fill. There has been several others who have had the same problem. More info in you need here just do a search for it. ------------------ |

My car is ALWAYS in the shop, but I'm too stupid to get rid of it. Guess I'm too attached. My first window regulator just went out...they have no idea when they'll be able to get a replacement since they're on backorder. Does anyone know of a place to get one? The car is still under warranty, barely, but I'd be willing to pay for one in order to get it fixed quicker. Thanks. |

It still amazes me how dealerships can stay in business. For the last three days my Kat has been at the dealer . Tried to take her in Tuesday for repairs and they told me to bring her back in Wednesday Am ,so they could get right on it. Took back at 7:00 am Wednesday . Called Wednesday evening to check on status : I was told the parts were on order and would be in from warehouse Thursday Am. Went by Thursday PM to check on status in person. Saw Kat looked like a turkey after Thanksgiving dinner. Top down ,both doors open and hood up. No apparent work had been done. Parts were in according to service writer. Went to pick up Kat today at 5:00. Waited 30 minutes for my Kat to make it's way to service drive. Drove home and the had bright ideal to check shocks to see what kind were installed. To my surprise they were Koni's Just like the pair I had before. Matter fact they were the same shocks leaks and all. What are the odds of a manufacture making two identical shocks dirt and all. Now I am a PO,d the past 3 days driving a stinky rental was a total waste. So I called Dealer to speak to the Service Rep. I was put on hold by first rep answering call to get second Rep. Waited 15 minutes hung up, called back. Got same Rep that put me on hold the first time. Being a nice guy I stated maybe we got disconnected. He stated hold on, the second rep is right here. Another 10 minute Hold. Now Rep came on saying She was in error about the completed task. Only gas gauge was repaired. Mechanic stated took most of yesterday and today to drain gas and repair. They will call when parts come in. This time it will only take one day to complete all work left. OH by the way the shocks did come in Thursday. Don't know why they did not put them in. Rep say this is the hardest car they have to work on in their fleet. In concluding I am seeing a pattern here . Prowlers are the last car down the repair food chain. If it were not for New car sales and Warranty work the dealers would just dry up and disappear... I would never see them for any reason.

I can change a pair of front shocks myself in much less than an hour and the same goes for the fuel sending unit. There is no need to drain the gas when changing the sender. Try another dealer or at the very least another mechanic. |

That is a $hit dealer. Take your business elsewhere. I've heard from the Chrysler mechanics that the Prowler is a fairly easy car to work on (except for obvious tight spaces). The hardest part is being careful working on and around the car. Had front shocks replaced in 1.5 hours. Send Chrysler a letter. Just my opinion of course. I agree.....it's amazing how some cars seem to have regular problems and then others don't. I haven't had any of these problems with either of my cats. Lucky, I guess? Remember too, that dealers are independent business and are responsible for their own business practices....DC can't be blamed for everything! |

quote: THAT'S the quote that blows my mind. The Prowler is the easiest car to work on that I have ever owned...It's like taking apart a big toy. What the service rep is trying to REALLY say is "A special car like the Prowler and it's parts requires just a little bit of care and TLC when dissasembling, which most dealers aren't able to do...We are here to get 'em in and get 'em out as fast as possible.." Again, I've been told to my face by a service manager verbatim..."WE HATE Prowlers...something ALWAYS goes wrong when we work on them." Yeah, I could tell after they ran my car into a brick pillar and into another mini van in the next service bay...They almost had to buy me two new bumpers...had one replaced from the brick pillar when they bent one side of the bumper back 2 inches.... Not many mechanics are willing to crack the book and study what needs to be done and how.....and good luck actually finding a Prowler tech anymore....I get the sense that dealers that DO have Prowler techs actually try to HIDE that fact!!!! Unless you live near a fantastic dealer that welcomes the Prowler and takes the time to work on it with the TLC it requires, you are own your own wiht this car. I have a torn ball joint boot that I have been told was a road hazrd fault.....riiiiggghhht. Fine I'll do it myself then.....Recall kits are 23 bucks. |

quote: Thanks Larry, I called my dealer back and got the new regulator installed a couple days ago. It's weird to put the window up and down and not hear that clicking sound. Has anyone had their starter go bad? Earlier this week, I would try to start the car and it'd just click a few times, making me think it was the battery. I cleaned the terminals and it still did it. The dealer tested the battery and said it was fine and they couldn't duplicate the problem. It hasn't done it in a few days so I don't know what to think. Any ideas? |

SuperDopler, Mine was doing the same thing. Have the dealer check the battery ground cable where it connects to the frame in front of the battery. Mine was a little loose. The Dealer disconnected it, cleaned the cable and frame then reattachted it. I have not had any problems since. Dale |

quote: Superdoppler. your click is an indication of bad starter... It happened on my Red Prowler three times over the last few months. Last time was on the TX Stampede. When you turn the key it just went click. Turn again and than it would start. Told my tech about it and he said it was bad starter. He had parts order one for stock and replaced it a couple of weeks ago. The starting is much stronger now... To change it requires loosing the motor mount. ------------------ |

Just took my car in this week for loose mirror (replacing) hood shocks (replacing) and rear axle seal leaking. This is the first warranty work other than ball joints in 4 years. Took the car into be serviced Wednesday, took care of me in & out quick, nice loaner car supposed to pick up Friday. Funny thing while typing this, dealer called to let me know waiting for mirror and one of the shocks, wont be ready until Monday. Great ! |
