While at the car show this past weekend, a guy comes to me talking about Prowlers. Says he lives in Winnipeg, owns a Prowler, and says in about one week it will be finished with an install of a V-8 Hemi engine?

He proceeds to tell me that the engine came from a new Dodge Ram truck that had railcar damage during transportation. Hemi removed and truck sold for parts. Said they had to cut the frame to fit the engine in, but rewelded the frame back ??? While he was in Phoenix,,,the mechanical shop was finishing the air cond. unit and wiring up to the computer.

Any of you Winnipeg people know who this person is or have you heard about this project or seen the actual car?

Inquiring minds want to know...........................

Well, I am from Winnipeg, and I am not sure who this guy is. Only one guess, if he has a baby blue Prowler, it might be this guy that own's this Good-Year garage. I know he has done some mod's to his car, he has the bucks, so if it is baby blue, it's him. As soon as the snow is gone, about 5min. from my house there are big car shows every sunday, they block off this big area, and everyone comes out. My eyes will be open for this Kat, that is forsure. I will be asking to go for a cruise with this guy! What are my chances?

Larry - do you know what shop he used to do the computer work? Getting the enine to fit is a big job but doable given enough time and experience. (and $$) but getting the computers to interface so the transaxle and engine both know what is going on so they function properly is an entirely different problem.

Another baby blue Prowler. One in Toronto and one in Winnipeg? Or did the Toronto one move to Winnipeg. What are the odds of two baby blue Prowlers in Canada.

The blue Prowler in Winnipeg has been here awhile. I will take pic's and post them in a few months. Like I said, he did lots of mods already (exhaust, tips, front grill, more chrome in alot of places, looks sweeeeet). I can just imagine a HEMI, I would be in heaven........

Marty - I couldn't get further information from the guy. I didn't know whether to believe him or not, but he looked like mid 40's to 50 years old, about 6'1" or so, and seemed to be telling the truth. I'll admit, I was skeptical of the story. He said one shop, some dynamo super shop in Winnipeg, was doing all the work. I tried to give him the POA website to post some pictures and more info to us,,,,but he then slipped away from me at that time. Who knows,,,,maybe its all true?

I have heard of the guy and have heard about this plan for awhile now. Christina hit it right on the head about the goodyear shop. I dont want to put his name on here without him knowing about it, but i do know who he is.

Alley cat Could this be the one ??. I just came back from the barrett jackson auction . I made it to the pavillion car show for a bit on this Saturday night , too cold didn't stay long . there was a silver ,black & orange prowler . Never talked to anyone . everyone seemed busy gabbing . wanted to introduce myself . wasn't sure who was who ? Anyway getting back to the Hemi Prowler . Someone must be impersonating me in Phoenix . I tried this swap last year . I pulled the 3.5 had a bell housing made but the engine is to long . the firewall has to be set back or the frame stretched. the jury is still out on this . I put the 3.5 back in for now to enjoy the car for now . By the way this is a brand new engine in the crate from street & performance in Arkansas .
They have all the computers and harness & drive by wire gas pedals worked out for any application.

Pat - WOW,,,,I was waiting for you to approach us at the Pavilions,,,,,,we had free Canadian coffee to warm you up!

I had the silver cat there,,,,,too wet to take out the orange cat (never has been in rain). I was really looking forward to meeting you on saturday. We are never too busy yacking to ignore another Prowler owner!!! Wish you had jumped in with who you were! Damn,,,maybe another time?

The saturday before, this guy from Winnipeg came up to me with the above story about his Prowler having a Hemi installed and ready to go this week. Obviously, it wasn't you. Maybe Christina or Ramrod will provide who the secret Prowler owner is before long?

Marty
Hi
last feb i pulled my engine and dropped in the new hemi from S&P . It does fit in the engine compartment with my new bell housing i had made . the width is no problem probably more room than the 3.5 . the height is about 2 to 3 inches above the hood . I was going to design a Shaker hood to overcome this or leave it open to show off S&Ps new RAM JET chrome manifold for the new HEMI . tons of room for headers . S&P has these made already. stock manifolds will not work they exit straight back against the fire wall. I'm not worried about wiring or computer problems they can all be worked out ! I have done lots of computer controlled hot rod conversions new to old or old to new This doesn't scare me at all. I would leave the stock prowler controller alone . it can run by it self it doesnt need a lot of hook ups . Mostly grounds & several power sources . You have to be able to open these harnesses and dig in sort them out and let the factory sensors do their job . these people who say this part cant be done are just scared of it . they really don't know . If it doesn't plug & play or you cant buy it off the shelf they give up..I don't care who they are or where they work .I wouldn't try to change the way the trans or body computer works or make a 3.5 computer run the new hemi . I would marry the new hemi computer & harness to the prowler. You feed the hemi computer what it needs which isnt a lot, try not to interfere with the other controllers let them do their job . Another expenses is the drive by wire truck gas pedal . you need to be able to create and make a lot of stuff doing these conversions there is not a lot of help out there . The reason i threw in the towel on this one was the Length with the engine sitting in place the new bell housing which is less than 3 inches deep is about 3/4 inch away from firewall the hemi drive belt system water pump pulley tensioner etc is 1/2 inch away from the rad core .No room for any type of fan assembly , ideal being the factory clutch . No room to move the rad ahead no room to put a decent pusher fan which would be a gamble anyway . the only to options was to cut & move the firewall back .ouch to much work . Or cut and lengthen the frame at the engine compartment which would probably be the easiest . then you would have to stretch the hood & side panels . Max 6 inches would do it . I think ill sell the hemi and put a super charger in my cat .
Probably the right way to do this is with the Mercedes 5 spd & a 9 inch rear axle and you wouldn't have to worry about spitting out the stock transaxle. I don't Know if you seen these but there is pictures at my web site ............ http://members.shaw.ca/moparmania/

THE Hemi PROWLER would be the ultimate vehicle wouldn't it!!!!
