This week's poll is on the ball joint recall. The numbers showed a large percent of prowlers owners had this recall done on their kats. Around 16 owners said they will not have it preformed. I was just wondering why not, so could one of you mind telling the reasoning behind not doing the recall. Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks in advance.

I can understand the fear of having the arms ruined or worse during the recall. I know people who don't post here ever, who have tons of other vehicles and don't consider the Prowler their priority vehicle...resulting in not a lot of time or incentive to get the recall done.

I just wonder about the legality of having a ball joint failure after deliberately not having the recall performed....Does that relieve DC of liability????

I think its pretty stupid not to have the ball joints done. If they are dry inside they will fail, and thats trouble. Its free, If you don't have the time to do it then you don't have time to own one.My kat was not damaged in any way during the process.

I agree CT, there is no reason not to have the service performed. I have the only Prowler that is serviced at the garage I use and I had no problems.

I "interviewed" two DC dealers in my area and settled on one with a Prowler Certified tech and experience with the recall. Great job with no problems.

I agree with CT and others that say it must be done. I don't know the liability of a failure after a long time has passed knowing of the recall. I could see an attorney (for DCX) making a strong case that if many months/years go by with no effort to replace them, all bets are off if a catastrophic failure occurs.

That is my legal opinion based on one week of evening law school before I dropped out (in '1988).
