Hello all, want to ask what kind of cleaner should I use on the Prowler canvas top? It is still like new, so, I wouldn't want to use anything harsh on it. How about something like a spray can of a foamy carpet cleaner? Thoughts? Rob, '99 Purple/Red.

I've had outstanding success with 303 products, available at Amazon, auto parts stores, W-Mart, marine supply stores, etc etc

I wont put anything on my convertible top. I'm afraid of any effects the sun might create with a coating. I just use a mild detergent and soft brush to wash it when I wash the car.

After owning my Prowler for three or four years we finally decided to clean the top. We started off with a light pressure wash then the 303 cleaner and finally the 303 protectant. What a difference, the top was a deep rich black and water just ran off it. Made a believer out of me.
It doesn't need done very often.

If you drive in the rain you want the top sealed so it does not leak and provide UV protection.

Agree with Larry and Padroo. I used them as well and the protectant is hydrophobic, so water just beads up and rolls off, instead of soaking in. Mine also went from drab to dark black and looks amazing

Make sure to cover your vehicle, the spray will find any exposed surface.

It looks like a lot of work to do this but it really isn't.
One review I read the guy painted the 303 on with a paint brush instead of spraying it on with the sprayer and it did a better job of shedding water. I don't know if I can find that article again or not.

That must be some strong stuff to use those kinds of precautions to clean and seal a cloth top. But, I am sure it would have a nice color tone when finished. I may be afraid that it would slowly bleed down the paint though when the car would be left in the rain? My wife is in to Shaklee products, and we have washed our cars with a common product called Basic H (household) cleaner. Real safe for anything. I think I will just use that for its first car washing with me. Thanks for the input. That's what it is all about! Rob.

With the 303 cleaner you don't need to protect the paint just the protectant that seals and makes the top water proof.

I've been using 303 products for about 5 years and have not had any problems / damage. I clean the top, let it dry good and then apply 303 "Fabric Guard" per label instructions. The only precautions I take is laying a large towel over the deck lid and windshield under the top. The spray pattern is pretty controlled. I also use the 303 "Aerospace Protectant" on the rubber/vinyl parts, not the top.

Yes Padroo is correct, sorry I wasn't more specific, did mine 8yrs. ago. Wash the top, let dry, cover car(doesn't take long), then you can be as liberal as you want with the top water repelling coat. Best of luck however you do it.

Yes, if all you want to do is clean your top you don't need the plastic.
