I went to the Chrysler website to check on extended warranties. If you do a search, the website will price a warranty for your vehicle. Prowlers and Vipers have special pricing..... I'm assuming its higher. Anyway my cat only has 1600 miles in just less than 2 years and I was looking at extending the warranty to 7 year 50,000 mile at the "Better" Protection. It gives me a Plan Code: A750L and a MSRP of $1360.00 . Does anybody know the Chrysler markup on extended warranties and what would be a reasonable price to pay for the extended warranty? Thanks |

Ditto what AC says above. I bought my extended warranty from Causeway just before my car's original warranty expired. The price was far less than what any other warranty outfit offered and also less than a Mopar warranty from other Mopar dealers. Thanks a bunch, Laddie! |

So it doesn't matter where in the US I purchase the extended warranty? I live in the Washington, DC area and the three year initial warranty ends about a month from now (I just picked up a 2001 that was initially purchased in Nov 2000). They way I understand this is that I first decide what coverage/deductable I want then contact the dealership you referenced? Then if there's a rpoblem I can take my car to a local dealer for service? ------------------ |

I just finished speaking to Bob. You are right, he is great. I asked about the 7 year 50,000 mile ($50 deduct) added care policy and his price is $930 ($1360 Retail). He then mentioned that I should consider the Maximum care, because it is like the factory bumper to bumper warranty. The added care may have some exclusions. The price he wanted for the 7 year 50,000 , $50 deduct max care was $1100. No hard sell, whatever I wanted to do. The warranty can be purchased anywhere and is added to the car VIN. It will not show where you purchased the warranty and the car can be taken to any dealer of your choice. The extended warranty will show up with the vehicle VIN. |

I am the fifth owner of my '99 Kat...bought it 37 months after the first purchase (Murphy's Law??!!)... Is it possible a previous owner purchased an extended warranty and never passed the info along? Is there a way to check (i.e. by VIN?) to see if I have a warranty still in place? |

quote: as I understand it, the warranties are transferrable from owner to owner but this has to be initiated at purchase. If the guy you bought yours from had an extended warranty and didn't transfer it to you, he was entitled to turn it back over to Chrysler for a refund on his unused portion. |

Bob Miller - that is right,,,,you can buy the extended warranty in another state and still get it serviced in the state you live. idive - Mickey, you are also right. Original owner turns back in the extended warranty for a refund,,,,,the next owner has to pay for the 'new' extended warranty,,,the whole taco. |

AC, this has been covered I think, but Ed made me ask. If ones Prowler is out of warranty, and an extended warranty was never purchased, can a DC extended warranty be purshased? Eds car only has 8,000 miles on it and it is a 2000 silver. lol Richard |

Richard - As I understand it, if the car is 'out' of the original factory warranty ( 3/36 ), but you are still within 48 months of the in-service date ( day you bought the car ) and the original owner,,,,YES, you can still buy the extended warranty. Call 800-521-9922 with the VIN# and in-service date ready, to verify. That office goes to lunch and nobody answers the phone for over an hour. Hope that answers your question. AC |

As both of you well know, I would not own a grey, err, I mean silver Prowler. I would have it improved and painted RED. lol. |
