From time to time you, as a Classic Prowler Owner, may not be allowed / invited to participate in “select” Car Shows because the Prowler is not considered a “Hot Rod” or a “Muscle Car” and that it was produced after 1980… some Car Shows use a basic eligibility requirement that the car entry must be 25 years or older.

You may find the following information helpful (interesting) if you challenge any eligibility requirements for displaying / entering the Classic Prowler, your prized possession in one of these "select" Car Shows…

Did you know that there were ONLY 11,703 Prowlers ever built and there will be NO MORE?

The Prowler was produced from 1997 – 2002 with production ceasing February 2002, almost 18 months ago!

10% of the Prowler production was sold in Canada, which reduces to less than 10,000 the number of Prowlers that were sold in the United States… fewer than 2,000 per year!

Compared to another 2-seat Roadster… Corvette, which builds over 20,000 (twice Prowler’s TOTAL production) in a single year and is still in production!

Prowler has become a desirable “Classic” Automobile based on the limited numbers produced and that it has become extinct too.

Camaros, Firebirds and others are extinct, but there are HUGE differences and are not worthy of the same comparisons… they ARE NOT 2-seat roadsters… the TOTAL production quantity is millions… their “names” are allowed to participate as pre-80s Muscle Cars, unlike the short-lived Prowlers.

Prowlers were handcrafted in Detroit, Michigan without robots (just like true Hot Rods) from components supplied from some landmark American Hot Rod vendors such as American Racing Equipment.

Vipers, Corvettes, Mustangs, Camaros, Firebirds NONE have front “motorcycle” style fenders nor exposed front suspension components, a true, original, and Classic Hot Rod design.

There are only 205 Prowlers registered (research your State) with the Florida Prowler Owner’s Association.

WHAT IF???

…the new Chevrolet SSR Truck is misconstrued as a 2-seat roadster or a Hot Rod?

…the SSR is allowed to be displayed at “select” Car Shows without meeting the age (date built) eligibility requirements for “corporate” reasons and your Prowler is not?

…a Boyd Coddington or a Bobby Alloway or a SoCal Speed Shop or a Kit Car creation, with ALL NEW parts and built since Prowler ceased production, be allowed to display at “select” Car Shows foregoing the age (date built) eligibility requirements just because it “resembles” something else and your Prowler is not?

REMEMBER…

There are always “rules exceptions” therefore you should explore these as an option too!

If you find the above information is interesting or useful, always use it in “Good Faith” and most of all, enjoy being a very select group of individuals… a Prowler Owner, having FUN, FUN, FUN!

Sincerely, Jay

Jay.....that's all wonderful but my philosophy is:
If you don't want me there, I'll go somewhere else that appreciates the car! There's no shortage of car shows these days. Pretty simple

I agree, Ken. There are plenty of places to go. The ones that turn me away no longer get my support for their organizations/charities. I figure they are the ones that lose, not me.

Points well taken, however like in most stories there is more than meets the eye. Maybe it is just being denied something that directly / indirectly so many of us have been involved in and supported for many, many years... the evolution of the Hot Rod.

What's really at stake here is many of our personal identities and our claims that we are "Hot Rodders" and very proud of it. Owning a Prowler does not in any way diminish our claims and why should it? This in part is simply because we love cars, love modifying them, love bragging about them, so when we want to show them off, where better than at a Hot Rod / Classic Car Show?

Being a true "Hot Rodder" is a state of mind having nothing to do with the model year of your car. Many of us have "modified" Prowlers in the true "Hot Rod" fashion... performance and appearance. We all fell in love with the Prowler (purchased one or more) and for lots of different reasons. Most of all we love the Prowler looks... it looks like a Hot Rod... its design was a "Tribute to the American Hot Rod" and 5 years ago where could you find 20" tires and wheels?

Because of our love affair with the Prowler, we are sometimes being excluded from the events and social activities that we love. Like I said, maybe it is just simply the denial that Prowler Owners are not part of the Hot Rod culture, but we really are.

For me, I would rather fight than switch so I am keeping the Prowler, looking to buy another and taking on City Hall in an effort to correct this model year discrimination, all while having FUN, FUN, FUN!

Of course, I welcome your support as a Prowler owner as everyone knows, fighting City Hall is uphill all the way. As uphill is the course, I am in low-range with all 4 wheels engaged.

Come on an join me, Jay

Jay, add to your examples the 1965 Shelby Cobra replicas (kitcars)that are at all of the car shows (GoodGuys) and are no older than 1-2 years!
