Thanks to Bob Goetz for sending me a pair of his SS dual steel case mufflers. The 19 inch long 3" diameter mufflers are fitted with 2" diameter pipes bent and cut to length so the two mufflers replace the stock Prowler single muffler. I have tried numerous mufflers and loved the sound of Jay Harris's SSS muffler until I removed my catalytic convertors. At that point it was just too loud at the RPM range when cruising at interstate speeds (performance gears raise the RPM's to around 3000) The new Real Rod mufflers really tone down the harsh sounds I was experiencing with glass packs at Wide Open Throttle. Now I can drive more aggressively around town without attracting every police officer within a three mile radius! The additional back pressure from the 2" pipes and extra sound dampening actually increased the low end torque and I can squeal the tires off the line for about 1 and 1/2 seconds by just stomping the gas pedal. |

quote: CJ - Now it down to only being annoying. Compared to before it is downright quiet! (But probably still loud for your taste) Bob - thanks. I'll call you when I know my travel plans. I hope you like the SSS. |

It was great to learn that the Highly Acclaimed SSS is still alive and well, even after surgery. I know the new Cat will get lots and lots of enjoyment from the SSS when stretching it's claws... truly Sweet, Smooth and SASSY! Best wishes, Jay |

CJ - It was TOTALLY obnoxious. Now it is only BORDERLINE obnoxious. We'll see if Norm can dyno it without getting a visit from the police. fixumm - that sounds a lot like the muffler design I got from Real Rod. 19" long x 3 1/2" diameter steel cases with straight through design and sound dampening material arranged in a swirl pattern. BobH - I hope you like the SSS. As Jay describes it, the sound is really nice. |

YC-Jay, I am looking forward to it today, last night it was raining while I put it on, then it cleared up as I finished, I got to take it for a short run on dry streets, then I got back home it started to pour again.
