Just yesterday I bought Chrysler's 7-year, 60,000 mile extended warranty which covers nearly everything imaginable including road hazard coverage for our $395.00 tires, at $100.00 over dealer cost. I used one generous offer from the Covington, LA Chrysler dealer and asked my local shop to match it. They agreed to.
I went with the longest annual program but cut the mileage end of it as I'm not putting more than 5K on the odometer annually anyway. I'll hit the 7th year long before I hit 60,000 miles for sure. That would be my suggestion....go with Chrysler's own program so there's never a question about the programs viability as the years go by.

I am really leaning towards the Warranty Gold extended warranty after finding out that the day you purchase the warranty is the date it becomes active. For instance, if you get a five year/100,000 mile warranty today, the warranty is in service from today for five years or until the odometer hits 100,000 miles. Now with the one year free warranty and the 0% financing for a year, it becomes more attractive. I am now just trying to figure out which policy to get. Unless, anyone has had any bad experiences with Warranty Gold, it most likely is the one I will be going with.

Same thing with coverage through Chrysler. I just got a three year 100,000 mile policy from Causway Chrysler. Paperwork is on the way, but I was told mileage is based on total miles on vehicle, and years from date of purchase of warranty. Since I put 27,000 to 30,000 miles a year on my car and I have almost 24K now, I chose the 3 year/100K option.

My car ran out of warranty last June. I don't think I can get an extended warranty from Chrysler AFTER the warranty expires even though there is only 26K on the odometer. I called Warranty Gold yesterday and they were VERY helpful and WILLING to deal on the price! I will probably also go with them unless someone has had a problem with them. By the way...here is a sentence from their contract regarding the effective date:

Coverage under the New Car Contract will take effect 30 days and 1,000 miles after Contract purchase date and will expire according to the time and/or mileage of the plan selected, whichever occurs first, as shown on the Declaration Page.

Depends on the coverage you buy go to their web site they explain it pretty well. I have the Diamond level so
just about everything is covered other than normal wear and tear items.

Al, When I called Warranty Gold yesterday, I mentioned your name. I am still undecided if I am going with them, and if I do, which plan to purchase. I am still working on estimated mileage and how long I plan on keeping the car. One of the nice things about there warranties is that they prorate it if you decide to later on cancel the policy.

I was considering going with Warranty Gold last week until they called me four times in two days, trying to sell me a warranty. Each time, it was someone different, from the initial sales guy to I believe the sales manager's mother , giving me a lower price. I asked them to give me the lowest price from the beginning, but they kept going lower and lower. So I am waiting for them to call back with an even lower price on Monday.

Web Site Last Updated: July 30, 2004

ATTENTION: IMPORTANT NOTICE EFFECTIVE AUGUST 1, 2004
Due to the continued process of the closing of Warranty Gold, as of August 1, 2004, there will be a very limited staff available to answer customer phone calls. When you call Warranty Gold, you will hear a recorded message directing you to visit this site or, if you have a contract purchased after June 6, 2003, you can leave a message and your call may be returned.

You may still E-mail your questions and concerns to Warranty Gold but it is likely that you will find the answers to your questions on this site. Please carefully read the information here paying close attention to the FAQ, NEWS and LEGAL Tabs.

This site remains the best source of accurate and timely information related to the collapse of National Warranty Insurance and the resulting Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Liquidation and closing of Warranty Gold.

Contracts purchase before June 6, 2003
If you have questions related to a contract purchased prior to June 6, 2003, you should continue to monitor this website. Claims filed to the bankruptcy court continue to be posted on the LEGAL Tab of this site and accurate Frequently Asked Questions are posted on the FAQ Tab.

Contracts purchased after June 6, 2003
The terms of contracts purchased after June 6, 2003 remain the responsibility and obligation of First Automotive Service Corporation. Your contract is still in full force as it was purchased.

Overview
National Warranty's Liquidation. National Warranty Insurance Risk Retention Group, the administrator and insurer of Warranty Gold extended service contracts purchased prior to June 6, 2003 was declared insolvent. National Warranty is responsible for paying claims from monies deposited by Warranty Gold on behalf of our customers, and, if those funds prove insufficient, to pay all additional claims from the insurance paid for by Warranty Gold. A court has frozen National Warranty's assets for liquidation.

National Warranty's insolvency has impacted approximately one million consumers and numerous extended service contract providers, like Warranty Gold, across the country.

Warranty Gold's Reorganization. As a result of National Warranty's liquidation and the inability to quickly recover funds sufficient to either pay all of the repair claims and pro-rated refunds accruing under the contracts issued prior to June 6, 2003, Warranty Gold entered into Chapter 11, Title 11, of the United States Code and, since December of 2003, has been in a liquidation and closing mode. To assist customers affected by National Warranty's liquidation and the resulting closure of Warranty Gold, this web site has set out specific information for the Warranty Gold customer to participate in a distribution of assets.
