Since I've taken part in many Prowler gathering both in New England and Florida I've found it very weird that I've seen very few black Prowlers since they are the most produced color at 1911 units. The colors I mostly see at gatherings are Yellow, Purple, Candy Apple and Orange. But for some reason the black Prowler owners remain elusive.

Maybe it's because black shows the dirty and owners are afraid to drive it and get it dirty?

Any other hypothesis?

Actually, there are a lot of black ones around but people usually paint them PURPLE to make them look better..

I certainly drive mine and I keep it clean. It mainly gets dusty, not dirty. Not that difficult to maintain if it has a great wax job, like mine does!

I read somewhere once that the color of a car has to due alot with the personality (ie. outgoing, reclusive, etc.) of the owner. They subconsciously pick colors that reflect their personality.

Black, if I remember correctly, was a subdued color and therefore not a "Here I am, look at me" type of personality

Blue tended to be very conservative. Perhaps why it didn't sell so well considering the overall type of person buying this car.

Bright reds, yellows, etc. tending to be agressive and outgoing.

Which naturally brings us to CJ having both a black and a red. Guess that makes her an outgoing introvert or an introverted exibishonist

I just purchased a Black Prowler with 700 miles on it. Currently it is at RSI, having a supercharger, NOS, line lock, new exhaust, and gears, along with Black tinted windows, I can't wait for it to show up........

Even more rare at the Prowler gatherings I have attended are Black Tie's. For example for the upcoming Prowlin the Smokies there 16 Black, even 7 Woodwards. But only 1 Black Tie is scheduled to attend

The reason they are not around is because they are never around long enough to see them take off...

YF.....I found this on the internet..........

Meanings Of Colors

Red

Passion, Lust, Anger, Fertility, Health, Revenge/ Vengeance, Physical Strength, Willpower, Magnetism, Courage

Need I say more???????

Black

HexWork/Curses, Meditation Rituals, Banishing or Summoning of negative forces/evil

Remember those subliminal messages people are always accusing me of sending? I'd watch out if I were you...

as a prospective buyer, and I know I'll get flamed for this, but black and silver are the only two on my "unacceptable to even look at buying" list

There's a guy in my old hometown (Dansville, NY for those that know the area) that has a black one, and I've seen it a few times, and it just doesn't stand out. The lines are VERY hard to see on it. All you can see are the chrome wheels, and well...any car can have chrome wheels.

You really need an "off" color to show all the lines the cat has, and silver and black don't do it as well as the pastels.

JMHO though - what do I know, I don't even own one - or is that the best audience, the people that don't own, and look at them??? lol

heh - actually not sure if you really meant for me to do that...because looking at the pictures of your candy apple vs. the black one proves my point even more! lol

The lines just aren't as visible on the black ones

maybe my eyes are going bad - oh well...it's a freakin' CAT no matter what, and there's no mistaking them on the road!!!

I've seen a black prowler in the opposite lane head on while driving and it looks mean....

If not happy with black, then it's time for flames! That'll bring out the lines...LOL

Sorry, don't mean to offend anyone at all, but ever since 1997 I was interesting in purchasing a Prowler. I passed a dealership every day, to and from work, seeing all the colors as they came out. Though I loved the car, it was not until I saw THE BLACK that I took the plunge. Suffice it to say, had they not made the black, I'd probably be living in a much bigger house right now.

WRONG!!!! - Got my Black Kat (maybe I'll name her LOUD KAT, right CJ?) back home last Thursday just in time to host our Louisville 2003 event over the weekend. Even without the nitrous reinstalled (yet) it is quite a bit faster than before. People have posted that our Prowlers' big advantage when racing other cars is the quick start off the line and we should not challenge someone on a rolling start. Well..... 80 MPH on I 64 and a Yellow Mustang GT wanted to play. I bumped the Autostick into 3rd, we both nailed the throttle and held even to just over 100 when I stared to pull on the 'stang. He knew he was whooped at that point - right Gary Archer?

Black Kats are the Fastest! I can't wait until Norm tweaks the motor and gets the nitrous hooked back up in early July!

Who cares---Its just a color choice. Its what you like looking at. I never wanted a Candy Red but i bought one on ebay. # 1 it was the last year 2002, #2 it was what I thought at the time was a good price. #3 they only made 300. Lets face it they are all Prowlers!!!I've had 2 black cars, they were hard to keep clean. Forget about it, one isn't better then another, unless its yours!

that's right - no matter what color or anything else, when I buy my Prowler it will be better than ALL YOURS!!! LOL

oh man...you guys are killing me! I can't wait to get a cat and "join" the club for real! You're all just like the Jeep folks!

Niagra Falls is about an hour from my place, and I'm almost considering cruisin' up there in June just to meet some of you - that said, who of you will be there???
