ok ive been drooling over prowlers for about 2 years now, but alas, another car has caught my eye.. a nissan 350z.. by the end of the year im going to TRY to buy one or the other... i wish i could get both ... anyone on here have any experiences with the 350z??? the reasons i think it would be better is .. 1. its new 2. its faster 3. warranty
.. whichever car i decide on will not be a daily driver, i would keep it for weekends and shows...
the only reason i would really want a prowler is the rareness( is that a word ? ) of it and the "shock" value of it when people see it.. i dont think the 350z would get that as much..
any thoughts or input is appreciated.. and i understand that this is a prowler forum, but hopefully someone out there has had experience with the Z

Steve - as you said this is a Prowler forum. The Z's are already more visable on the road than the Prowlers are. I was sitting two yesterday at a traffic light. I have only seen four Prowlers on the road in town other than when we had our event here last year.

The styling of the Prowler is timeless. The Z's styling is destined to leave it as just another car in years to come. You can alway make a kat faster if that is what you want. But if speed is the objective, there are better choices than the Z also. Warranty - you can still new kats at dealer's. If you but used, the original warranty transfers and there is always extended warranties available.

I would love to get a 350Z if I had the extra room. I also would not sell my Prowler to get one. However, after seeing pics of the upcoming 350Z convertible, I don't know. Not saying I would sell the Prowler to get the 350Z convertible, but the thought did quickly cross through my mind.

When I was wanting to get rid of my Prowler because of problems, I went to the Nissan dealer and checked out the 350Z. It's an awesome looking car, but the inside looks very cheap in my opinion. If I was going to get rid of my car today for something in the same price range, I'd definitely be at the Infiniti dealer getting a G35 sport coupe.

No contest for me. The Prowler was my dream car after I first saw it in the early 90's. The 350 is still just another Nissan. There are lots of cars faster than the kat, but it wasn't speed that caught my eye.

speed really isnt the objective for me for another car, i have done some performance mods to my beetle which is fast enough for me..the prowler has "the look" and im sure it is plenty fast anyways ... ya know, i really just need to go to a show or something and really take a good look at the prowlers, ive seen a few up close, but never sat in one or drove it.. any good shows coming up in my area VA/DC/MD ???
the other thing is, my budget would be 30k or less for a prowler, which would limit me to the 97's and 99's... and those cars are probably all without warranties am i right? thats another reason why the Z is so appealing, u get a lot for the price

The prowler is destined to be cherished and collected for years to come. As time passes it will be even more desirable than it is today. Most prowlers, other than those destroyed, will be accounted for. On the other hand, in 20 years your mass produced nissan will be in a scrap heap somewhere. pgd aka ron

The Prowler in so. Cal. is still very hot! Theres a dealer in Riverside CA that cant keep them on the lot no more than a couple hours or days. The design is timeless and mine is priceless... The Z is a good looking car but its not a Prowler!

There are a lot of cars out there that are nice driving machines/sports cars. But, only ONE has the jaw-dropping power of the Prowler.
no contest: Prowler.

Look at it this way, the prowler is a real eye catcher and not made any more.

The 350Z is not that hot looking (IMO) and there are a million of them on the road.

Now I have had just about every car you can think of but, the prowler is the only one that makes my heart skip a beat when I see it.

If this is going to be your only transportation, I'd say get something else but, if this is a weekend toy car, you will not find a better one then the prowler (not to mention you won't see hundreds of them on the road)

PFreek, it will probably be rather hard to get someone on this board to recommend the Z over the Prowler. I saw my first Z the other night and I think it is a sharp looking car. It is slightly different looking than most new cars but it is not that much different from several cars currently being produced. It is probably way faster but I doubt it will hold its value. You have to decide what YOU like and not what everyone else recommends. If you go on a Z site you will find all of them highlyrecommending the Z over a Prowler.

I think a Prowler is a unique sports car. You can't compare it to any others. You either like it and have to have one or not! Just the fact that your considering a Nissan makes me feel your not that crazy about one. I have 4 Cars and a Truck i drive around, i wouldn't recommend a Prowler as a daily driver even though alot of people on this site do.I think its something you take out for fun. Not something you park have to worry about someone hitting it during the day at work. I live in CT and i've only seen a couple since they started production. I have seen dozen of nissans in the last few weeks. Drive them both if possible, see how many people turn their heads over the Nissan?? No contest..

There were approximately 11,600 Prowlers made, give or take a few. The cars that survive will be highly prized in the years to come.

The Prowler is truly a "people car", i.e., if you don't like people don't buy a Prowler. Everyone who sees it wants to talk to you and tell you what a great car you have and how they wish they could buy one. I really don't think that will happen if you are driving a Nissan.

Hopes this helps you with your decision making.

Again I will nod to the Prowler. I own a Corvette now and am Pre-Prowler. I chose the Vette over the 350z (I needed a V8). I just wasn't going to spend that kind of $$ on a Nissan. IMO they look like a warmed over Celica, performance is nice but the Vette is still better. The Prowler rules b/c of the sheer impressiveness of the car. They are so unique and original. Plus as mentioned, look at the production numbers. Even with the Vette, there have been 1.1 million built in 50 years(1 in 236 Americans own one) there were 11,500 Prowlers built (1 in 22000 Americans own one) You tell me for $30k how could you ever go wrong picking a Prowler. It's a little slower than the 350Z but it just gives people a little more time to enjoy the view!

ProwlerFreek --

There are a couple of Prowler owners just over the bridge in Soutern Maryland if you want to see one "up close and in person".

One lives in Great Mills and is a member of the POA (POA ID: Black Tie 161) and the other lives in Valley Lee. One is black and the other is a black tie (silver % black).

I'm sure they'd be more than happy to show their cats.
