Has anyone put a hitch on the Prowler trailer to use for a bike rack?

Or can a bike rack be mounted on the Prowler trailer hitch arm (?) so a bike or 2 can be between the Prowler and the trailer?

Bob, I believe they had a bike rack option a couple of years back....not sure how it worked but my guess is that they stood straight up behind car. Putting them between car and trailer sounds dangerous. What about adjusting a bike roof rack to fit on top of trailer (you do it first and let me know how it works )

Bikes between Prowler and trailer WOULD probably be hazardous (to car, trailer, and bikes!)...

I was thinking that some generic 1-1/4" trailer hitch could be mounted to the aluminum box frame under the Prowler trailer and then insert a Yakima or other 2-bike rack into it...

Maybe it's a Larry Lord question...?

Northern Cat,

Do you have your bike rack rigged up to use on the back of your Prowler trailer or on your Prowler itself?

I use my Yakima rack directly on the Prowler now but want to see if I can use it on the trailer also...

Bob,

I think that the hitch would hang too low for ground clearance under the trailer... Besides the fiberglass construction wouldn't be strong enough to hold the stress & weight of a hitch & a loaded bike rack. You might have to leave the trailer home, & use the bike rack with a weekender... The hitch is still operational with the weekender in place. If you are going on a long trip & still want/need to bring the trailer, you might consider renting bikes or getting folding bikes to go into the trailer... I know this isn't what you wanted to hear... Just don't want to see an updated post with a picture of the Kat or trailer with a bike through the deck-lid...

What if you mounted a bike rack right in front of the tub of the trailer? Mount it to the tow-bar... Just a thought...

SOLUTION:

Get some new bikes, they fit right in the trailer
