Mounted on the bottom of the frame just aft of the engine bay are two black plastic boxes (one on each side).

The don't look hard enough to take a blow of any kind and since the frame is bent upward at this point, they don't look like they'd be the first thing to hit anyway.

They are also shallower then the outside skin of the car so it would be a given those would crack first.

What are these things?

Trey, I believe your seeing the "Lift" points. You should also see one on each side in front of the rear wheel opening. They are a very hard rubber/plastic black pad.

Not sure, anyone lifting the car never asked for it nor used them for lifting.

Are you guys sure? I say that because the tollerance between these and the outter skin is REAL close.

Also, a) they are angled up and inwards sightly (not a flat
surface to lift with)
b) there are none of these by the rear wheels (only two forward and the are angled upwards)

They may support the weight of the car but, at that angle, seems like the lift would slide off them.

The rectangular pads in front are the front lift points and specifically designed for that purpose. There are no rubber pads in the rear, but instead, there is a raised triangular shaped portion of the frame at the corner of the frame in front of the rear wheels. This is designed to be used for the rear lift point. I've been using these four points regularly for over 3 years and they are the best way to lift the car in its entirety.
