One of the guys at the office heard me mention about the top leaking in the rain. He said he had the same problem with his older Porche. Well I tried the crazy idea and had to drive yesterday about 100 miles in the rain and NOT ONE DROP OF WATER!!! Get this one, it is "ChapStick"! You rub it all along the rubber weatherstrip from the front joint at the windshield back to the end. All along where the window hit the strip. Be sure to smear it with your finger and it WORKS!! At least it worked for me.. My top has always leaked even after they replace the strips on both sides. It seems the ChapStick doesn't give the water time to seep in the seams. It might even work if you used RainX on it..

This tip is free of any and all AlleyCat sur-charges...

Fred - bad news,,,,,,at 4:30pm CST, 11-03-02, I had that idea already registered and patented,,,,,21 minutes before you posted it! You can verify that at the US Patent Office. The guy at your office figured out you weren't going to cut him in for any profits,,,so he emailed the 'ChapStick Rain-Out Stop Solution' to me to register. I'm paying him my usual 30% profit sharing figure

I'll have to charge everyone using this idea 30 cents per window per each time used. Cough up the cash

Alley, I want a refund on my $10 grille, or at least I would if I had ever paid it. . I had too redo mine after the trip to CTC. After 3 years and this trip, the chrome started peeling. But not from the ends like you would think, but from the center. I know have a new grille and my total investement is now a whopping $20.00. Double the advertised price. Boy am I mad. The rough grille edges probably slowed me down in the quarter mile too.

Rich - It was because you were racing at CTC, that the chrome started to peel. The warranty was only up to 89 mph! ( always read the small print )

Hey, I spent $24 on my original roll of molding, so don't complain

Bet the new chrome treatment looks sweet

Rich, if you rub it in then it leaves a bit of a mark at the top edge but nothing very messy. Heck I'd put up with that just not to ride around with a towel in my left hand.. I also had to put the window up and down several times and still no water inside except when it was open.. I couldn't believe it, I kept waiting for it to drip someplace but nothing..

AlleyCat, nice try... hehehe

JoeD - cash, check, or money orders.

My Production Company seems to be non-profit,,,,research and development are having cost over runs lately and my accounting firm, Monahan and Associates, have been flexing the books!

I understand that Arthur(Ed)Monahan and Assc. are down on their luck since the Enron thing.

Hey Fred-

Did you get soaked on the way home Saturday?

Sorry things didn't work out with the Caldwell get together - all the time I spent Friday getting mine ready for Austin & Caldwell, and I ended up never pulling it out of the carport due to all the rain. I did get some work done on the building project between storms though. You should have stopped by, I had an extra hammer!

I'll let you know when they reschedule.

Thanks for the offer, Tom.. I also got some of the work I needed to get done at the lake place in the morning. I thought it would hold off but thought they would cancel so I headed to the house.. Let me know, that is only the second time the car has been up there.. Driving in the rain is no problem since the car can't shrink any more than it is... hehehe

paychecks, what paychecks? Just the honor of knowing me and working with me is payment enough. In fact I may make them pay me a fee for the first few weeks to help offset my expenses.
Richard, just because the weather is getting colder and you never leave Fairfield, do not think you are totally safe! lol
