I just got a private email in my in box at POA from a Jim S. that is re: last month's Cruise For A Cure, with a send date of 9/25/02. With all the virus problems that have been posted on this board, combined with my total and complete computer ignorance, I'm afraid to open it without finding out if it is legit. Jim S., if you are out there and trying to contact me, post something on this board. Otherwise, I'm deleting it in a day or two as suspect... If it is bogus, then everybody needs to be aware that there are weird emails floating around again in POA... |

Please feel free to open up the POA Private message, just be careful of opening up anything in your personal private emails you receive. I am a little gun shy myself, better safe than sorry. Please don't fear of getting anything viruses from the POA Website itself. Just the other day from my friend of mine back in Indy sent me an email which was infected and she knows nothing about the POA. You just never know who you can trust. Good Luck ------------------ |

Don, I think I might have sent you a PM regarding Cruisin For A Cure, but don't remember for sure. If it's a PM from POA, it's ok to open it. If it was an e-mail,I dont remeber sending it. With all the virus's floating around, I prefer to just send a PM instead of e-mail, figure it's a lot safer for everyone. By the way, glad you made it home from the Oak Pit Sunday. Jim, thanks. Got the message - it must have been floating around in internet-land for weeks, because it just showed up in my box yesterday. It was great to see you in Ojai last weekend on the cruise - Sorry about the computer paranoia, but I'm usually online at my office, and the last thing I need to do is infect our system while checking out the Prowler boards...The Boss drives a new T-Bird, and just wouldn't understand... |

Hey, if you are using something like DSL, you have alot more to worry about. People can hack into your pc and place things there or read/copy all your files. Rather then holding your breath each time you open an email (or worse just discarding them all) invest in: 1) Firewall software; I have all three (total is less then $100) and gives me complete comfort with email and my computers. You would not believe the number of hits (mostly just sales stuff) I get a day with sniffers trying to hack their way in. |
