I need some help! I've read a number of posts that talk about Prowler Convertible Tops being replaced under warranty for rips developing in the area below the back window. Mine has a small tear, I took it into the dealer and the Service Manager said he would have to get the Area Factory Rep involved who quickly dismissed the problem and said they would not cover it. I then called the Customer Service number in the owner's manual and was told about a service bulletin that addresses the issue and that the damage was caused by misuse and not a defect in material or workmanship. Based on the fact that there are Prowler owners who have and are getting repairs done under warranty I would like to ask for some help. If you have had your top replaced under warranty for similar issues please let me know when it was done and the name and address of the dealership. My warranty runs out in July of next year and I'm going to try and make a case to get my local dealer to take care of this or to identify a dealer somewhere close to me that has or will. I live in the Orlando Florida area so if you know a service manager that might be better for me to contact pass the name and number long as well. I can't see how they can tell me no and so many others yes. Also, if there is a better way to handle this I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks for taking the time to read this and reply if you can! My Prowler is going up to Garber Auto Mall near Jacksonville on Monday to have some warranty work done, including possibly having the top replaced. My problem is different than the ones I have been reading about as the rear window is separating from the cloth convertible top on the passenger side. As for having work done in the Orlando area, I prefer to drive for 2 1/2 hours to have Ken Albert work on my car than have the monkeys at the local dealerships break more things and then take it to Ken to have him fix the problems they cause. I feel having him repair the car cuts out the middle man. Ken Albert ------------------ • MTD Prowler Intake System 2.2 |

From what I have seen, they pretty much try to discourage you from claiming it. It seems to me that if make a big fuss over it and worse case scenario, threaten legal action, they tend to come around and fix it. I really didn't have any problems, this was my third Prowler and I bought 3 DC cars in August of this year. I am also looking for another Prowler and Viper so, I think I might have found an edge. Teri, initially, was told NO on a 2001 car that had only 1500 miles on it. She and her husband kept after them and now, it appears they are going to take care of their car. I had only 200 miles on my new 2002 when this happened but, i had a very understanding servie manager that busted his rear to get the district rep to replace it (same one that initially told Teri, NO) Have faith, and keep after them. |

Our rip were not near the rear window. We had small tears above the passenger and driver windows. As YellowFever mentioned the two holes line up when top is folded. Good Luck - It's been at least 2 months since we first showed the dealer the rips.It took a while..... |

My concern was that the fabric didn't cause the holes in our top, it was the assembly or something else. I voiced this concern to the service manager and told him we may be looking at this same problem in 2-3 more months again since the only thing changed was the fabric. He agreed and so, we shall see. |

Well maybe the damage that I've experienced isn't as common as I thought. I've seen numerous Prowler top assemblies for sale on eBay and elsewhere that have the exact same damage as mine, I even bought one that was represented as perfect and when I received it there was a tiny rip exactly where mine is when I removed it from the packing. Thanks to all that have replied thus far...livin' and learnin'! ------------------ |

My 2001 Kat is having a new top installed on the 23 of this month. Took it to the service center, third time for leaks and on the passenger side there is about a 1/4 in. area where the material seems to be freying like a old pair of bluejeans. They said they would order a new top. 13 days later top is in and scheduled for replacement. Haven't had to say any words to them at all. Have always been given top of the line service.
